There is absolutely nothing like a father’s love. A good daddy makes you feel heard. They hang on your every word. They build you up, encourage you, wipe your tears, and hold your hand. They teach you how to throw a mean punch and a football.
They really listen. They know that if they want you to tell them the big things one day, they’ll listen now. Because right now? Everything is a big thing. They clean up boo boos and sit at the kitchen table for hours working on math problems. They make time for you and you always know they love you more than words can say.
And the really excellent daddies even keep this up when their daughters are 37. They give really good hugs and whisper “I’m so proud of you” in their daughters ears. They send out-of-the-blue emails saying things like
I am so proud of you. You are the best of wives and mothers and don’t let anyone try to tell you otherwise.
And these emails will make their daughter cry because every girl needs to hear those four little words.
I’m
Proud
of
You.
So blessed to be surrounded by good daddies. The best daddies. It’s a rare gift.

tears!! Also at 53, there is nothing like the sound of my Pops telling me that he is proud of me.
You and your girls are blessed indeed. That’s a beautiful photo. CJ xx
Wish I could hear my daddy say he was proud of me but I know he is. Love this blog post tho it gave me damp eyes wen I think about my dad and the type of dad my husband is. Xx
That’s the kind of relationship my husband still has with his dad! My husband always knows how proud his dad is of him! My inlaws always instilled on their son that he is important and to marry a woman that treats him as well as they do. When my husband was in 6th grade, his dad was in bed for a couple weeks with a bad back. My husband came home from school every day at lunch (lived nearby school and mom was a teacher) to fix his dad lunch and check on him! Love their relationship!
Even though I was raised by two strong, amazing women, I will always wonder what it would be like to have a father’s love. I see it in the way my husband loves our daughters. This makes me so happy for them and makes me so glad that I can give them what I never had. He is a wonderful father and I love him even more because of it.
Beautiful!
:::sniff…sniff::: Where’re the tissues? So beautifully said, Stephanie!

So true! I rang my dad this morning (at 5:30am while he was still asleep)in tears because of a decision my husband and I have had to make……….he was awesome, calmed me down and helped me put things in perspective, at 36 a great dad is still the best!
So sweet.
