thanks SO much for all of your kind words about our year in RI. and yes…i was a tad sidetracked by the house yesterday. i kept losing track of the pile of laundry i was folding…because i was rearranging furniture in my head!
and then i went to take all the JUNK off of the stairs (i mean, what IS IT WITH PILES ON THE STAIRS??? please tell me you have this neverending problem too!) and i was sidetracked by this:
WHAT? who cares about piles on the stairs when there are the cutest babies ever kissing?
and then later in the day i finally focused for a bit and i was vacuuming when we found these sweet shades that J wore to an 80’s party a couple of years ago.
and…yep- you guessed it. sidetracked again.
well, we might be living in a disaster zone…but at least we are having fun, yes?
YES.
or at least this is what i keep telling myself. HA!
happy wednesday!

awww! Love those kissing babies! And some days are more sidetracked than others. No worries! Keep doing the great job you’re doing, momma! God’s approval is all that matters.

i only have two kids and our family of four ALWAYS has piles on the stairs. Either on the bottom steps waiting to go up or on the top steps waiting to go down… never-ending 🙂

There’s just hubby and me in our house, and currently, the following “stuff” is on my stairs, waiting to be carried up: an envelope full of coins for the coin jar, a black sweater I wore last week, three bank statements, an empty pocketbook and an empty totebag, a new green plastic trash can I got at the dollar store FULL of bills, papers, our passports (we just got back from a trip), an empty travel wallet, some hemorrhoid medication, a bottle of vitamin D pills, and Lord knows what else is in that green can…
Yea, I’m not embarrassed by posting all that…

The piles are the stairs are a rather new phenomenon that I’ve encountered since living in a two story house. I clean the stairs off and a pile appears by bed time. It’s crazy!!
By the way – living in a bit of a disaster while having fun with the littles is the best life ever!!
Sigrun says
we have loads of stuff on our stairs
I keep wanting to get a basket to leave there to collect the stuff….not sure if that will work. A stair caddy they are called…..we are living in a disaster zone too….drives me insane as I like to be organised but with 3 kiddos under 3 not happening!! Have a nice day!
Kelly says
Love these pictures!! Having fun is way better than clean laundry and tidy stairs:)

I would be sidetracked by all that cuteness, too. We have a one story house, so we don’t have piles on the stairs. We just have stuff lying on every flat surface – ugh! Trying to get into the habit I had when our daughter was a baby, which is to not walk from one place to another empty handed. In other words, if I’m going to the kitchen, I look for a water bottle to carry with me to put in the recycling. If I’m going down to the laundry in the cellar, I take the new bottle of detergent with me, or an empty laundry basket. It might be futile, but it feels like it helps. 🙂 Happy Wednesday. Kiss all those cutie pies.

Your girls are precious. I have to tell you, I’m sure this isn’t a big deal for you at all, but this past weekend we visited some friends who are new parents. She had been getting back into scrap booking and checked out my blog. I guess through there she found studiocalico and YOU. She was like, ‘you know that mother with the adorable twins and husband in the military?’ Of course! Anyway, long story short she loves you, your style and has a new obsession with yellow lullaby thickers. 😉

How cute ar you all?!!! I mean really…!!!

Um yes – junk on the stairs – ALWAYS.
So, I got one basket for each kiddo to contain the crap. They have tiny chalkboards on the front so they can write their names on them. Now I just say “Bring your basket upstairs”. Sometimes it works. =D

Funny, because I noticed the piles on the stairs and was relieved to see that someone who keeps her house clean has also fallen prey to the stuff-on-staircase problem. :). Such a cute photo of the twinsies.

Rhode Island is a beautiful state. I am from CT and went to college in RI and now we vacation there with our family in Narragansett. You and the girls are going to love it.
When are you moving? I’d to stop by and welcome you to New England on our vacation in July and meet those cute girls of yours!

Stephanie, I have been reading you blog for a few weeks and love every single post of yours… Your girls are the cutest little things!
I just wanted to tell you that I´m sure you will love RI. Not sure where you are going to live, but Providence – RI is my dream place. It´s where I met my husband (who was there for college from OH) and where we lived our first years together. We still wish we could go back (we live in Brazil now – it´s where I´m from). Providence is the cutest city ever and soooo cultural, so much fun (and only 30 mins from Boston, which is also amazing!!!). There are so many great places to go to… Let me know if you need more info about the area. I´ll be happy to share, but I tend to overshare when it comes to Providence… lol I wish you the best!

Really? I’ll have to get in touch with you and see if you are around. We are there from 7/28 through August 4th.
You really are going to love Rhode Island and I’m assuming your husband will be in Newport which is a great place too. I have a friend from high school that lives in Newport all year round (it’s mainly a summer place to go in NE) and has 4 young kids (I think 4, maybe 3…). She would be a great person for you to hang with and get to know the area.
My email address is michele.motta@yale.edu.
