Happy Sunday,y’all! I wanted to share a layout with you today. As the days have passed without my crafty supplies…I just knew there was NO way I could wait another week to make something.
A few things happened that made me decide I was going to make some pages.
1.An old scrapbooking friend started a new kit club. It’s called Gossamer Blue. I didn’t hear about it in time to snag the main kit,but I did buy a couple of add-ons.
2.MPix had a sale and I ordered a bunch of 4×6 photos. I took some pictures of the bigs in our new backyard last week. The sunsets are GORGEOUS here and the light in the backyard is unbelievable.
3. After the movers left our house in Savannah I found a few random things left behind. A roll of MME washi tape, my paper cutter, an American Crafts precision pen, etc.
4. I’ve been exploring Newport. We have a Michael’s and all I really needed was a roll of adhesive. Not that that stopped me from picking up a couple of other things.
So here’s what I came up with.
Supplies: Gossamer Blue Sunny Days Add On and Bits and Pieces Add On,gardening twine(hardware store),doilies-dollar spot!- and french general flowers-on clearance-(Michael’s),MME designer tape, sequins(Walmart)
1. I used the gardening twine to tie a bow around the photo. I miss my bakers twine but I kind of like the look this gives the page.
The kits came wrapped in blue tissue paper. I saved it and matted the photo with the paper.
2.The kit embellishments came in large glassline envelopes. I cut the bag into a fringe and layered it under the left edge of the photo.
3. I realized I didn’t have any letter stickers and that’s one thing I use on every single layout. I improvised and cut the vellum back into an “H” to use for the title.
Lesson? I don’t need all of my stuff. I actualy enjoyed utilizing the glassline envelopes, the tissue, and other things I had around the house. It was FUN!
I hope you had a beautiful weekend. XOXO
That is so amazing. And you are so right! I think we get used to having lots of supplies when really we don’t need them (at least not all of them). Scrapbooking started off like that. Using things that were lying around! Love this so much. TFS! Still no household goods?
no…BOO. they gave us an ETA of wednesday. madness!!!
I love your creativity!
This is gorgeous. This is such a beautiful shot of her. I’m sure the girls will love having all these pages when they are older. They will have so many documented memories. I’m started scrapbooking this weekend, hopefully I can create such beautiful pages.
Yay for Gossamer Blue! Lori’s done an amazing job! 🙂 This is so sweet!!! I love your improvised H. I’m not sure what I’d do w/out letter stickers… 😉
I’m loving your use of all the found items, and up cycling what you had on hand. It just goes to show–a person can still make beautiful pages even without all the fancy bells and whistles! I especially love the gardening twine- loving the statement it makes, and how ‘at home’ it is on your page!
Your ability to think outside of the box is amazing! Great job!
Beautiful!! I love using what I have and making it work!
Pretty page! Yay for improvisation!
Way to go making use of what you had handy. It is a beautiful page and a beautiful photo of Harper!!! Hoping your belongings arrive this week!!!
love…
Love it!
This really is what scrapbooking’s all about! I look back at my very first “scrapbook” from high school and I had used wrapping paper, greeting cards and note paper! And I loved it! great job! Beautiful photo!
wow what a page and what a lesson!! thanks!! I am defn guilty of thinking I need all the latest and greatest. Looking at this gorgeous page I have been taught an important lesson – which my hubbie will be very glad about!! hope you are settling in well. your new home looks really nice!
You did an awesome job…you are so creative! How much longer are you having to wait.??? I admire your patience and fortitude! God Bless
mid next week…YAY! and thank you! xoxo
Fabulous layout, Stephanie! You definitely proved that we don’t need a lot of stuff but please don’t tell my husband!!!
I have four girls too (no twins though), and I call the older pair “The Bigs” just like you do. I am finding that the younger pair are not happy with being “The Littles” though now that they are 13 and 15. =)
And you are so right. Sometimes I know I just need to create something to feel better, no matter the supplies available. I took a trip once and, while gone, created a mini book with no scissors for the project. Lots of torn edges turned out really cool!
Wow, what a sweet memory this will make for you….love how you improvised and made such a beautiful layout!
Your page and your girl are absolutely beautiful!
Lovely!
Good job! We’re off to Paris in a few days and the girls and I intend to scrapbook our holiday on a daily basis with the scraps that we come across during the day, wraps and all. Any tips from a pro?
Stephanie, I love that you had to scrap even without your supplies, good for you making it work. This is perfect timing for me because I’m going to my first crop in about 3/4 years and don’t want to take EVERYTHING!! Was thinking of limiting myself to just some scraps, few embellishments and white for the backgrounds and 2 alpha colors and working with those. Thanks for this and encouraging us that we don’t need everything to make a BEAUTIFUL LAYOUT!! She looks pretty here and I love the page!
Have fun on Wednesday, it will be like Christmas!!
Its not quite in your backyard, but there’s an LSS in Attleboro, MA (prob just under an hour drive from Newport). Its called Right at Home Scrapbooking. The selection there is pretty good and the staff is very friendly!
I *love* right at home. I used to design kits for them YEARS ago and Ive actually written to see if I can teach there. Fingers crossed!
love this page…sometimes it can get a bit overwhelming w/ all the supplies we all seem to collect to use…it’s fun to narrow it down a bit sometimes!
Sign me up! I live 15 minutes away!
thats AWESOME! have a blast! just make sure to look everywhere. there is SO much amazingness to be found everywhere. tickets, doilies from restaurants, flyers, business cards…as long as you have scissors, adhesives, and a pen id say you are good. have you thought about using smash books or amy tan daybooks? those would be perfect!
that’s sooooo cool!
I used to sometimes pick random things from my scrap pile, put them in a ziploc bag and create 10 layouts from that one bag of goodies…so fun to challenge!

Stephanie,
Coming out of lurking mode again to leave you a well deserved compliment.. I just think you should be applauded for your upbeat attitude. Here you are in a brand new state, in a brand new house and 4 little ones with little or no possessions and still you carry on with a positive attitude, you still continue to enlighten us with your words and creativity. Leave it to you to, not only make the best of it, but then to further inspire us with a beautiful scrapbook layout made from essentially found objects. Kudos to you on so many levels and here’s hoping you are settled soon with your belongings
thank you! had a quick look at amazon.de and guess what? THEY SELL smashbooks, excuse the capitals but it is not often I can actually find something you mention in your blog! i might have a go at them when I come back, until then we will hoard like mad women. will be fun for 2 11-year-olds, … i think!
PERFECT for 11 year olds!! They also sell them (and all the accessories) at michaels and target!!!
