I got an email last week asking me if I’d like to try and review a new Marta Stewart Crafts product.

Do any of you that know me want to guess what I said?

It took me all of 2 seconds to reply Yes Yes YES!

And I really flipped when I saw what it was:

A doily circle edge punch system? WHEEEE! Love. And I loved it even more when I had a chance to play with it in person.

The system punches circles up to 12″ big. I used it to make 6″, 7″, and 8″ doilies.

After I punched them (SO EASY by the way) I was going to make a garland. But when I saw them displayed…

I knew that I wanted to use them on a layout instead. So I did. 🙂

So here’s the verdict.

I loved it.

And I’m glad I did because I would have not liked to write a negative review. Haha!

It was easy and painless. And this is coming from someone who is NOT good at figuring out how things work.Hence the reason I am never the one to put the toys together on Christmas Eve. Bahahaha!

The punch was not hard to use either. Like buttah. And the magnet system makes it impossible to mess up.

I loved the result with the vellum and next time I plan to use it on patterned paper to make garlands for the big girls headboards.

I’ll share when I do! I’m confident that this tool will not just sit in storage gathering dust. It’s perfect for this doily addict.

i always feel like those 2 little words are so…i don’t know. little?

i always struggle to appropriately convey my gratitude.

my gratitude for his willingness to do what i would never be brave (or strong) enough to do.

my gratitude for his selflessness,his honor,his bravery,his leadership.

my gratitude for the fact that he has willingly (and without complaint)missed births, anniversaries,holidays,birthdays,firsts,lasts.

his willingness to say goodbye to four little girls who are his world…

and step on to that plane over and over and over, never knowing if he will come back.

my gratitude for everything. all of those things i couldn’t possibly ever put into words.

all of those things that bring me to tears every time i think about them.

thank you, jimmy. thank you for who you are and what you do. what you have done…what you have seen.

thank you to ALL OF YOU past and present who have sacrificed so much, given so much…willingly.

10 years ago I knew I was proud of you. But I never could have imagined the pride I feel today.Thank you for your selflessness&bravery. Thank you for doing what I’m not strong enough to do.Thank you for your service.Thank God for you coming home safe.

scrappy saturday- you shine

j is at deer camp in vermont this weekend so that means that i have a little extra scrap time. what to do after you put the kids down…hmmm…

clean? nope. laundry? nope. MAKE SOMETHING! yes!!!

i’ve been wanting to scrap this photo of miss h for quite some time. i feel like she just radiates beauty in this photo. i just love it.

this week i received poodle skirt in the mail. it’s the first studio calico add-on that i have purchased since i stopped working there.it is very “me” and i knew i had to snatch it right up.

and the first thing i thought of when i saw the contents (especially the stamp set) was harper and how proud of her i am.

i picked up these star sequins at michael’s and i just love them. i scattered them across the page and adhered them using glue dots.

you can’t really tell in the photo, but across the right edge of the photograph i adhered lines of the basic grey vellum tapes. it adds a really soft, pretty touch.

i topped the tapes with what looks like a stamped image. but it’s not. 🙂 i was too lazy to find the right ink and stamp until i got it just right.

so i cut the stamp image off of the plastic packaging and used it instead. i layered it on a dear lizzy sticker and topped it with one of the crate paper washi stickers.

i’m really happy with how this page came out. it’s bold and soft all at once. kind of like my girl. 🙂

lately all of my pages are similar. doilies? check. sequins? check. dear lizzy and crate? check check. and i am just fine with that. i am having so much fun making things.

now to just catch up on the last 3 (maybe four?) weeks of project life. OOPS!

perception vs. reality

i seriously have no idea what i’m doing half the time.

i brew coffee in the keurig without a cup underneath and i don’t even notice until the coffee is running off of the countertop and onto the floor.

i attempt to make ruby slippers with glitter glue and red glitter…and somehow end up gluing the flats to the front porch. true story. there is still red glitter in the crevasses on the porch.

i laugh when i should be stern.

i raise my voice when i shouldn’t.

i pin all sorts of cool crafts to do with my girls. and i never do them. i have the best of intentions but rarely follow through.

more often than not, we have convenience meals. pasta,tacos,casseroles.i’m not a very good cook.

i feel like i’m on a treadmill that is going WAY too fast and i simply can’t catch up.

i forget field trip slips and lunch money.

my car looks like a tornado went through it.

i have never made a homemade halloween costume or homemade cake in my life.

when all else fails, i put on elmo. or yo gabba.

i feed my children lollypops just so i can get through the grocery store.

the laundry is piled up sky high. always. no matter how many times i *think* i’m caught up.

and you know what?

i am good with it. great with it,actually.

because it works for me. it works for us. it’s trial and error.

my children are happy. and healthy. and loved. oh so loved.

i used to worry that i wasn’t doing it right. that i wasn’t doing it like everyone else was.

you know. that comparison game. that subtle one-upping that some women like to do? that’s not how i roll.

at least i don’t roll that way any more.i gave that up when i realized it was making me miserable.

i do what works for us. but i’m sure not going to act like i have it all together.

because yesterday i almost hit the mailbox.

today i unintentionally wore pajamas to drop my children off.

i screw up crock pot recipes at least once a week. i mean…how do you even DO that? my favorite was when i cooked a meal on high for 8 hours instead of on low. that was awesome.

i pay the sitter to come three hours a week just so i can be alone. sometimes i don’t even do any work.

i feel like i have no idea what i’m doing.

anyone who says they have it all together?

is lying.

plain and simple.

right? RIGHT! who’s with me??? 🙂
now off to botch a dinner attempt.

if you get a chance PLEASE look at lucy's face (she's on the left) when i ask her if she was naughty. right before she pokes cate in the eye bahahaha!

it's a quick look but it's SO sadie. scary. heeeee!
