Happy November, sweet friends!!
I’m here today to do a reading recap for you. I’m not sure if anyone reads these, to be honest. But I LOVE keeping my thoughts organized and memorialized here and it brings me indescribable joy to be blogging again.
This month was SUPER productive reading-wise. Please remember that how many books I read is not a reflection on you. All reading is magic. And it’s never, ever about competing or one upping.
Please let me know what you enjoyed (or didn’t enjoy) this month. I treasure any and all comments!
As always, you can find my real-time reading thoughts on:
Note: my rating scale is 5 stars. I use half stars and I wish Goodreads would, too. GET IT TOGETHER, GOODREADS!!!
I will note whether the book is an ARC (advance reader copy) and if so I will share the release date. I will also share if the book I read is in audiobook version.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
All the Lonely People by Mike Gayle- Well goodness gracious. Don’t mind me as I sit here sobbing like a fool. This book is wonderful. Magical, precious, tender, special, and utterly beautiful. Up Lit is my most favorite genre and this book is a shining example of the very best of Up Lit. Intergenerational friendships, late in life love, loss, and beauty in broken things. Just exquisite.
Weather Girl by Rachel Lynn Solomon (ARC- Release Date 1/11/2022)- This book is really special and unique. It’s a love story but it’s also full of beautiful insights into human nature. The characters are so real and lovable. And I LOVED that the love story is between the weather girl and the sports guy. I found the station’s inner workings fascinating. The Seattle setting is also 👏🏻👏🏻 I’m officially a Rachel Lynn Solomon fangirl.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨
No One Will Miss Her by Kat Rosenfeld- This is an EXCELLENT thriller. I read it in one day, it’s an absolute page turner. The twists and turns are authentic and believable and it’s refreshing to read a thriller with a solid plot that doesn’t have ridiculous, unbelievable twists just for the sake of being twisty. Good stuff.
The Three Mrs. Wrights by Linda Keir (listened to on audio)– The audio of this is SO SO GOOD. I was obsessed. Consumed! I couldn’t stop listening. I basically listened while driving, walking, cooking, folding laundry and doing all my chores. My family got so tired of me ignoring them. Bahaha! This reminded me of the movie The Other Woman, which is a favorite. It’s a fascinating read just to see how this smug asshole keeps all the balls in the air! Highly recommend.
The Younger Wife by Sally Hepworth (ARC- Release Date 4/5/2022)– The thing I love about Sally Hepworth’s books are that they are never EVER what they seem. They are always multilayered and surprising- every dang time!
My absolute favorite part of this book was the women. Hands down. Sally writes such beautifully flawed characters and I fell in love with Rachel, Tully, and Heather. It was a privilege to get to know them and see their inner struggles and triumphs. They were so very lovable and I rooted them on every page of the way. The ending of this book will most likely be divisive, but I enjoyed it because it was so different than what I would have ever expected- I was so certain I had it all figured out until the very end! Sally’s books just feel like home and this is no exception.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Written in the Stars by Alexandria Bellefleur- This book was really comforting and sweet. I love that there is so much more representation in romances now. The world has enough m/f romances!!
Maisie Dobbs by Jacqueline Winspear (listened to on audio while also reading book) – I found this book quite lovely and cozy/comforting but also a heartbreaking account of the effect war has on human beings.
Much Ado About You by Samantha Young (listened to on audio)–I thought this book was ADORABLE. American moves to the English countryside to run a bookstore? Yes Please. You’ll love the small town cast of characters and swoonworthy male lead. It’s hard not to fall in love with this crew. There’s also some major steam. Whew!
Can’t Look Away by Carola Lovering (ARC- Release Date 6/14/2022)– I really loved this book. It’s hard to categorize. Part thriller, part romance, part women’s literature. I just thought it was a lovely commentary on who we are when we are young and how we change as we age. And how love can mean a lot of different things. We can hold so many people in our hearts in different capacities. Honestly the thriller elements are okay, but the character development and relationships are what will stick with me.
⭐️⭐️⭐️✨
Last Summer at the Golden Hotel by Elyssa Friedland (listened to on audio while also reading book)– I really enjoyed this one. It was a nostalgic, sweet, and loving multigenerational tale. I loved learning about the Catskills Borsch Belt, too.
The Ex Hex by Erin Sterling- Super cute read, perfect for October. Lots of magic and romance and a sprinkling of spookiness.
⭐️⭐️✨
Payback’s a Witch by Lana Harper- You’ll like this if you enjoy setting as a main character. It was cute but slow and the dialogue seemed to be a bit try-hard -overly trendy and excessively wordy. I also would have loved more background and context.
⭐️⭐️
The Cage by Bonnie Kistler (ARC- Release Date 2/15/2022)– This was just kind of a mess. SUCH an interesting premise, the beginning had me absolutely consumed and intrigued. I couldn’t wait to see what would happen. And then it just sort of…fizzled out. There were random segues and endless rambling and unnecessary details and so.much.legalese. The author is a former lawyer so that explains the lonnnnggg legal descriptions. It was just a miss for me.
Whew!! Told you it was a productive month!
Happy reading!
