have some fun this weekend!
play,laugh,let go.
break a rule (or three). harmless rules of course. like no bed jumping, binkie stealing, or screaming like banshees.
promise me?
happy friday!

reading, organizing, shopping, momming too close to the sun. Home is wherever the Army sends us.

friday turned out to be an AWESOME day. remember i wasn’t sure if snow was even coming?
and if you are wondering…why yes, they are wearing rain boots. it’s georgia. we do not own snow boots. HA!
well it came, alright. and stuck! it was beautiful. looking out the window in my kitchen… i felt like i was in a big old house in new england. except it came and was gone just as quickly. and didn’t make much mud or mess. it was pretty much the perfect snow. one thing i did NOT like about living in upstate NY was the mess when the snow melted this was painless.
except for poor frosty. inventive name, huh? harper named him. hahaha!
j and h worked hard to make frosty. his eyes? are glitter hearts. and yes, that is a binkie in his mouth. don’t even ask.
we lost poor frosty today. harper looked out the window and screeched
“OHHH NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, FROSTY ONLY HAS HIS BOOTY LEFT!!!!”. and indeed he did. see above. bless his heart.
i’m pretty sure he died of embarrassment. let’s just say there was an “incident”.
said incident involved little harper attempting to put the carrot on his bottom snowball. in a very inappropriate place.
j&i laughed until we cried about that one. so so funny.
that’s it for todayhope you had a fantastic long weekend!
see you soon! xo
Happy Happy Valentine’s Day, sweet friends!
I hope you have a sweet, love-filled day. I’m so grateful for all of you!
I wanted to share some photos from Sadie’s Birthday party yesterday. It was the first time I’ve been able to give either of my girls a real birthday party, and it was a blast!!
First the decor (which coincidentally is the scrappy part of my scrappy sunday post :0)
ribbon: martha stewart
foam doilies: oriental trading
medallions on white banner: making memories
roses on pink/red banner: hobby lobby.
super simple. lots of banners i saw online require sewing (which i don’t know how to do and didn’t have time to learn before the party), so I just strung them on ribbon. This Martha ribbon looks like old fashioned seam binding ribbon, i love it. I adhered the felt roses with big (multiple) glue dots.
ribbon: martha stewart
pink doilies: oriental trading
felt mini red hearts: hobby lobby
white doilies: baking section of grocery story
red doilies: dollar spot at the PX (our on post walmart-type store)
The white garland looks a tad sketchy (ha!) but this is the no-sew option. i took the white circle doilies, folded them in half, and wove the gold ribbon through the top. then i adhered the circle into a half circle by using glue dots.
so that’s the scrappy (ish???) part of the post. here’s some more pictures:
favors:
Cupcakes. Aren’t they GORGEOUS?? They tasted just as wonderful as they looked. I found a photo online and worked with the pastry chef at Lewis Jones Food Market. She did a fantastic job, I was thrilled with them.
the birthday girl’s HUGE cupcake had a “tutu” on it. I found this sweet tulle fringed ribbon at Michael’s, it’s total tutu ribbon!
the table:
i put layouts of sadie in the display piece on the back wall. it’s a great way to show her growth AND an easy decor idea!
the cups for the pink lemonade:
i arranged the candy in cookie cutters from the dollar section of the PX.
valentine’s bingo (with red hots as markers), and cookies for the winners:
and the sweet birthday girl!!!
shirt by the amazing Amy Tangerine,
Tutu and hairclip by Tiara’s Tutus
She was SO SOOSOSOSOSOSO excited. When she woke up from nap and I told her it was party time, here’s the face she made:
who could NOT stay away from the candy:
and when it was time to sing, someone got verrrrrry shy.
faker.
or maybe just a daddy’s girl:
so there you have it. i think i need to have a valentine’s themed party every single year.
it was too fun.
tutu fun. snort.
love you all, have a beautiful, happy, love day!
xxoo
in our house, it’s the norm to vacuum in heels and a tutu.even though our mommy has NO idea where we learned this.
it’s totally fine to play outside in a princess dress and galoshes (when there’s nary a puddle in sight):
we pass our time by giving pedicures:
and eating popsicles (even when it’s cold outside):
it’s the norm to make faces like these at mommy:
to wear outfits that make us look like majorettes:
and to have bed head all day long:
some days (moments, really), we are best friends.
but the norm, most days, is that one of us isn’t into the other. and we want NOTHING to do with sister.
we want to do everything BY OURSELVES!!!!
SHE TOUCHED ME MOMMMMMMYYY! SHE LOOKED AT ME FUNNNYYYY!!!
but moments like those are turning into more and more moments like these…
and although sometimes it’s really crazy and GIRLIE around here…
it’s the norm and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
happy thursday! xo
i got a big box this week from 2peas and i couldn’t wait to play. i did a quick, fun layout with my new goodies, and i thought i’d share it today.
