Barnes & Noble is having their big 50% off Book Haul sale right now and when I noticed how many of my favorites were available, I decided to do a blog post sharing my recommendations ! I’ve read all of these and love them and whole-heartedly think they’d make a wonderful addition to any home library. There are other books on the list (both of the Christina Lauren novels) that I’m interested, but I’m not putting them on the list because I haven’t read them yet!
1. The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah – Kristin Hannah is a master storyteller and this one transported me right to Alaska and both thrilled me and terrified me in equal parts. If you enjoy stories where the setting is a main character, then this one is for you.
2. Watching You by Lisa Jewel- Nice and naturally twisty – but it doesn’t depend on ridiculous out-twisting each other twists. I probably won’t remember it long term but it was nice and enjoyable in the moment.
3. The Snow Child by Eowyn Ivey- Beautiful and magical and enchanting. I think about it often and it broke my heart and filled it with love at the same time. Another Alaska as a main character book.
4. The Storied Life of AJ Fikry by Gabrielle Kevin- one of the very first up-lit books I fell in love with. I know opinions are divided on this one, but I’ll always be a champion. I love ANY story where love triumphs.
5. Calypso by David Sedaris- snarky and heartbreaking and deep and ridiculous and even snarky…David Sedaris is everything to me.
6. I Lost My Tooth by Mo Willems- ANYTHING Mo Willems is pure gold. We own everything he’s ever written so of course we snatched his newest series right up. If you are looking for HUMOR and a way to make your children love reading, Mo is the best.
7.Bossypants by Tina Fey- one of my allllltime favorite memoirs. I literally laughed out loud all the way through it.
8. Quantum Physics for Babies by Chris Ferrie- I bought this one for Cora and Jimmy got SO excited. This would be an excellent baby shower gift.
9. Sweep by Jonathan Auxier- This book is my favorite middle grade book that I’ve read the past year. Everyone in my family fell in love with it.
10. An Anonymous Girl by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkannen- I really enjoyed this book. It was nice just to read a somewhat suspenseful thriller without having to worry about twists and surprises and a book trying to out ‘Gone Girl’ all of the other books in its genre. It was steady and interesting and unsettling. Hendricks and Pekkanen make a great team
11. A Danger to Herself and Others by Alyssa Sheinmel- This was a really compelling young adult novel. At first I thought it was a thriller but it was really more of a profile of mental illness. It was heartbreaking and hard to read but I’m really glad I did.
So tell me- did you shop the Barnes & Noble #bookhaul?
What did you snag?
