that’s pretty much my life right now. sort, purge, organize, pack…lather, rinse, and repeat.
i thought i’d share a few photos of how i organize everything for moves!
my favorite “packing essentials”=
a WIDE variety of sterilite boxes from target
Here is how my scrap room looks right now:
i can not stress how crucial large ziplocs are. i put everything in them. thickers, tools, stamps, punches…you name it. it makes it super easy for the packers to just put the bags in boxes.
i also am pretty ruthless with my purging. i filled up several 12x12x12 boxes with goodies and i’m having my friends come over and pick what they want.
so there you have it…how i pack my scrap room!
if you have any questions, just ask in the comments and i’ll answer them there!!
xoxo

fun stuff. I just went through this myself and used the EXACT same things, storage plastic bins and ziploc bags lol! so funny! so far I have only averaged moving about every 6 years….it’s NOT fun at all, but since I don’t do it too often, I am grateful!
can’t wait to see your new house!

Love how you have packed it all up in clear containers. It will be so much easier to see what absolutely needs to be unpacked first. Will you have enough room in your new home for a designated scrap space of your very own?
Dina says
Another Army wife here. I literally just finished unpacking my scrap stuff yesterday and I can’t find the plug for my Cricut!
Questions: do you bag or box up all your little stuff before the movers get there, including things inside drawers? What do you do with some of the larger stuff like 12×12 paper?
Good luck with the move and enjoy New England – we did!
Stephanie Howell says

What great packing tips – how do you decide what to purge (I can never part with anything.) I have to say I envy your friends – I love getting things others purge. Good luck with your move!

Great way of packing your supplies we are in the middle of our 2nd move in 4 months, my craft supplies are packed in 20+ large cardboard boxes, I am dreading sorting through it all my stuff seeing what survived and what didn’t~might be another six months before I get to it with bub4 due in 5 weeks….so jealous of all the Washi tape hehehe LOL. Goodluck with your move!
Linda says
Great packing tips. Where do you store all of the bins between moves? Enjoy your moving adventure.
Stephanie Howell says
they stack inside one another. 🙂 and i use several of them permanently!
Stephanie Howell says
i figure if im not using it or reaching for it…theres a reason. and id rather give it to someone else who will actually use it and enjoy it! xoxo

Love the target totes! I made the mistake of using cute cardboard storage boxes for some of my supplies when I moved from NJ to WV..thaank goodness they lasted until we got here but had to scrap ALL of them after I put the supplies away!

love your organizing! when you’re done moving, you can use those sterile containers to store “stuff” in the attic. mine currently house old baby items, since we aren’t done having kids yet!
purge giveaway box? please please??
Toni says
Thank goodness the military moves you. but I know that means stuff that is special or breakable is usually packed by the family. at least if you want it there in one piece. Are you driving up to Maine together and towing a car as well?
Stephanie Howell says
We are driving to newport in 2 cars. Heaven help me!!!
