Buona Sera! Though to you, it’s not evening probably. Here it’s 11 pm and I’m not tired…I swear I’m still not adjusted to this time zone!
I thought I’d take you on a picture walk through our new “neighborhood”…downtown Vicenza.
Thank you so SO much for all of the scrapbooking advice yesterday. I’ve definitely decided on the 12×12 format. And I love all of the “keep it simple” advice. So ready to get started!
Hope you enjoy these photos. I know the blog is “Italy overload” right now but that’s what our life is. Italy overload. 🙂
Sidenote: So GLAD I bought an iPhone 5 over here. The picture quality is just amazing.
Have a beautiful and blessed weekend y’all! Ciao!
xoxo

Gorgeous photos of a gorgeous neighborhood! Italy overload? I think you’d be in big trouble with all of us if you didn’t post all about your amazing adventure. Keep ’em coming.
Question: I know you’ve been learning Italian, but is it still difficult to communicate? Ordering at a restaurant or shop – I’m imagining everything written in Italian (which I would have no idea what it says and I’d be all pointing and nodding my silly head off!)
Bessie Segal says
Dear Stephanie, no such thing as ‘Italy overload’! Your photos are gorgeous; gosh, even I could do Italy justice! It really is the country that has everything. You will soon get used to the slower pace of life; slow is the new fast! Keep the pictures tumbling in & enjoy each moment of your adventure.

Love the accordion man! BTW do you ever get tired of walking on cobblestones? Those were hard on my bones! I bet the strollers need shock absorbers. Ha! Keep on keeping on…. Consider your youngest might meet Prince/King George someday.

Overload is not possible when it comes to Italy. How wonderful it all looks. I especially love the tables outside the restaurants with people eating amongst the passersby. And the beautiful cobbles in the street. And the buildings of course. I hope you are all enjoying yourselves, I know it must be a huge adjustment and difficult to be so far from your country.
Kim S. says
Oh my word! I wanna be you…just for a day???? Most of those pics could be postcards! Have fun soaking it all in.

Lovely pictures. Curious how you are dealing with the language issue. How are you able to shop, etc.? Also curious for what your plan is for the girls’ school, and if the littles will take a language classor if they’ll be in a preschool in Italy? I love the thought of living in another country while my children are little, but I don’t know how we would do school. Would love to hear about the tough side of moving to another country- right now you make it all seem so glamorous.
Stephanie Howell says
We are in a different situation than most people who would just up and move to another country.
We have an American army post to send our girls to school on. Right now it *is* all fun because we are just basically on a vacation at this point. Once we move off post it will be a different story. 🙂

Christine Campbell says
WOW!!! it must feel like a dream to live in such a beautiful place. I know I’d have a hard time wrapping my head around it. The girls look like they’re having a such a great time!!
Stephanie Howell says
oh and to answer a bit more of your question…right now we are immersing ourselves in italian as much as possible. for instance, we are going to restaurants where they only speak italian. this is forcing us to learn. also, iPhone apps and books are helpful. just learning as we go along.
also- as to it all seeming glamorous …right now jimmy is not at work yet. we are living in an inn where someone else cleans our room. there is virtually no stress right now. just time to learn and acclimate.
if you read my last post i talk a bit about some of the frustrations.
