Happy Wednesday, y’all!
I am about to head to the gym and do a workout I’m DREADING (Jesus, give me strength) but I wanted to get up this post first.
Now, before I begin…let me tell you that I have been making the change to natural beauty products for a year now. SLOWLY. For one thing, the information out there is so overwhelming to me. And also, this is not a cheap change to make. So slowly but surely I’ve been adding in natural products and I hope that in a year or so I’ll be completely switched over.
I also want to point out that I don’t have a complicated beauty routine nor do I wear makeup often. I want to say I put on full makeup (which is still very minimal) maybe five times a month. 4x for church and one date night or so. Other days I either go completely bare faced OR wear Bare Minerals Powder Foundation.
So here is my daily skincare routine. MOST of these items are Beautycounter, which I LOVE LOVE LOVE but cannot afford to buy allll of. Hence the slow part. HA! My sweet friend Jessica Turner is a consultant if you need one to shop with! Her website is HERE.
- Beautycounter Nourishing Cream Cleanser– I love this and I wish they offered a bigger size. I go through it so quickly even though I’m only using a small amount.
- Rosewater&Glycerin– I spray this on and use it like a toner even though it is not really a toner. It’s soothing and makes my skin dewy.
- Trader Joes Facial Cleansing Oil– I LOVE LOVE LOVE this. The scent is light and fresh and it makes my skin look gorgeous.
- Beautycounter Lip Conditioner in Peppermint – every morning and afternoon. I have the driest lips in the winter and this has helped so much. I’ve bought so many of these because the girls always end up stealing them.
- Beautycounter Nourishing Day Cream and Facial Oil – I blend a couple of drops into the moisturizer and use them together.
- Beautycounter Sheer Lipsticks and Color Pinch Cream Blusher – fresh and natural, just the way I like my makeup.
- PiperWai deodorant – I tried Native and it gave me a horrible rash. I’ve heard great things about Schmidt’s but haven’t tried it yet. PiperWai is my go to it works well and lasts forever- you only use a tiny amount.
Up next I’ll be researching eyeshadows and mascara. I do NOT like the Beautycounter mascara I got at all so I need a replacement. Any suggestions? I’m also super curious about YoungLiving’s new makeup line but it’s just not in the budget right now.
I’d love to hear YOUR favorites, drop me a comment below!
xoxo

Thank you so much for linking to my site. I use the BC body citrus body wash and my husband loves the BC charcoal soap. The BeautyCounter mascara is the only BC product I haven’t loved either, though I haven’t tried their new one.
Making the switch is an investment, but a good one. Our skin is our largest organ and all the chemicals in other products are terrible for our bodies!

I love PiperWei too!! And I’ve been slowly replacing my Bare Minerals with Young Livings Savvy Minerals since it came out. I am really so pleased with it so far. I feel like I get a similar coverage but my skin doesn’t get as dry as it sometimes did with BM. Waiting for the mascara to come back in stock so I can try it–I’ll let you know when I do!

you are the best!

Ive been doing a more natural routine. I love the TJ oil and the Rosewater spray. I found a witch hazel that has no alcohol in it at Whole Foods. I use it as a toner and still use the spray in between. That alone has made my skin so much more balanced.

perfect!

Hi hi hi! I like rms -super easy and low maintenance. We are mega colorescience junkies so look into that especially the brush on sunscreens. If you have and like bare minerals it’s a great and easy shift, just a little higher quality base minerals and some more science and skin care in the line but very clean. And my friend sells crunchi products and I love their lipsticks! I would recommend trying the colorescience mascara-dye free and all that, but still has nourishing peptides.

You need to try the OuiFresh beauty box! So worth the money and so fun to discover new natural brands! I have gotten and used so many full size products.

I am like you – pretty much bare-faced all the time. One thing I have changed to is using lip color from LipSense and find that I am putting color on my lips more often and enjoy playing with the layering of the colors. I always hated putting lipstick on because it would come off after 30 minutes. This stays on all day!

Hi Stephanie! A friend just pointed me to you and your beautiful beauty blog post! I would love to connect… i am a founding executive with a small company in RI that produces the largest full line of affordable toxic free and organic products! We are on a mission to educate people on ingredients in products and why they matter! Glad you are starting your own journey! Some if the lines you mention are definitely on the same path as us but contain some ingredients i wouldn’t personally use! I look forward to connecting! I would love to send you some mascara!

Butting in here, I’m a friend of Stephanie’s, and vegan. Is your line vegan? Can you tell us what the line is? Thanks!

Love this post, and mostly because I think that it’s very important for us all to know what we’re putting on and in our bodies. We can each choose to use and consume whatever we want, but I just want people to be AWARE! Now, that being said, am I the one that turned you on to PiperWei? I LOVE THAT STUFF. I’m on my third jar, and am so loving it. Schmidt’s made me break out, WHO KNEW that arm pits were so sensitive? I’d never had an issue before. Oddly, my hubs has a much darker skin tone that I do, and I always thought his arm pits were just darker than mine. Well, I switched him to the PW stick and lo and behold, he has no more dark arm pits. He’d had a reaction to deodorants for as long as I’ve known him, 17 years. WOW.

Thanks for sharing! When do you use the Beautycounter cleanser vs the facial cleansing oil? Do you use one in the morning and one at night
