Last year, thanks to Zulily, I started adding to our Picasso Tiles collection. And it grew and grew and grew. Because honestly, my kids are OBSESSED. It’s one of the few things that all of them will collaboratively play with together. And sometimes I even see J or my teenagers playing with them. HA!
But then we started having a huge storage problem. The tiles were EVERWHERE. And we could shove them into a big storage box, but then the girls got frustrated because they couldn’t ever find what they needed. And that led to bickering and fighting and…that’s a hard pass for me.
So I did some brainstorming and eventually came up with a pretty genius solution, if I do say so myself.
I ordered these boxes:
We sorted the tiles by type/size and put them in piles and then we sorted them into the boxes. And then we got a sharpie and labeled each box by tracing the outlines of the shapes inside.
Tracing is the most important part because it helps the girls find the shapes they are looking for AND helps them put them back in the right place. All they have to do is lay a tile in the outline to see which one matches. Easy peasy!
So there you go! An easy parenting/ organizing hack from the Howell Hot Mess Express.
Enjoy!
