1. If you haven’t seen Chef…rent it (or buy it!) now. J and I loved every single thing about it. But make sure you eat before you watch it. OH MY GOSH, my mouth was watering the entire time!
2. I totally bombed on the challenge this weekend. But I had a REALLY great weekend with family and friends I love. Bloody Marys, pizza, cappuccino, and playing with my kids instead of exercise? Yep, I’ll take it. One of the best weekends we’ve had in a long time.
3. Here’s my latest pile of library books. Had to start with Landline, as I adore Rainbow Rowell. I’ll let y’all know what I think!
4. We watched The Sound of Music as a family for Friday movie night this weekend. We are going to Austria soon and we’ll be doing the Sound of Music tour so I wanted to refresh my memory. The girls LOVED it and have been singing “Do, a deer, a female deer” for days. And how could I have forgotten how much I adore that film? “Reverend Mother, I have sinned.” Can’t wait to frolic in the hills. You know I’m totally going to spin around like an idiot 🙂
5. I just got an Instagram poster from Polagram and I am obsessed. I can’t wait to frame this and get it up on the wall.
Happy Monday, sweet friends!

Sounds like a great weekend! Thanks for the book ideas. I looked a few up on Barnes and Noble and will be adding them to my list! I love your instagram poster. I know my 15 and 17 yr. olds would love to get one of those. I don’t have instagram on my phone, but seeing that poster makes me want it! Your pictures are beautiful.

Been to Salzburg (salz meaning salt) and really enjoyed the old town and castle area. We went to a Mozart concert, shopped, ate at a famous cafe, and saw some of the Sound of Music sites. Of course, there is a lot to see, and I admire your ability to travel with those kids. Especially with all the walking that is involved. I took young adult/teens and avoided much of the touristy stuff. But it was Christmas and we did enjoy all of the special outdoor Christmas markets. I recall something about a puppet show…and I bet the kids would love that. We also had to skip the special gardens, etc. since it was winter. I hope you have a terrific time and good weather!

When you go into the Gazebo at the SOund of Music House in Salzburg, try to refrain from singing “I am Sixteen” while leaping from bench to bench. The benches are not as sturdy as the ones they used in the movie. In fact, the tops aren’t even attached to the base so if someone were to jump from one bench to the next, the bench-top they land on moves up like a see-saw. Just ask me how I know this?! Granted I was a lot closer to 16 when I tried this, so maybe they realize that everyone wants to channel their inner Liesl and they secured the tops of the benches. But, don’t say I didn’t warn you. 😉 Thanks for the fun post!

You are going to adore Salzburg. It’s probably my favorite city in Europe. Well, maybe after Vienna. Cityish, but manageable and simple. PS: The ski area to the south of Salzburg (Ski Amade) is not to be missed if you are planning a winter holiday. 😉 Love the Instagram poster. I now know what I am going to have made for my dad for Christmas – instragram photos from our big trip to Normandy.

Enjoy Salzburg. It was my DREAM TRIP. We went in August for five days. Took the most awesome tour ever … Fraulein Maria’s Bicycle Tour. Tip-tippy-top of my life-bucket list. I can die now. (Not really). It was magical. If you can, take a day trip to Hallstatt. You can either take the bus or take the train from Salzburg. I recommend the train, because it lets you off at the rail station on the other side of the lake from Hallstatt and you then take a ferry across the lake to the town, taking in spectacular views of the town as you cross the lake. Also, go to Mondsee, about 15 miles east of Salzburg on the E55/E60. It’s where the twin-towered church (where Maria got married) is located.

P.S. If you do visit the gazebo … it’s locked now. There’s no dancing on the benches anymore. 🙁

I love the Instagram poster! Is it made with your snaps?
Linda E says
Yes, do visit Mondsee. The church is beautiful. So sad to hear that the gazebo is locked now. But I am adding the Maria Bike Tour to my Bucket List!

Fantastic poster, what a great idea. That looks like a good pile of books, I’ll be interested to hear what you think of them. Glad you had such a good weekend. And a tiny bit glad that you’re human and fell off the health wagon for a moment! Hope that doesn’t make me a bad person. CJ xx

I went back to your blog to tell you how beautiful Harper and Sadie were for your “Wordless Wednesday” and it was gone?!?! What happened to it? I loved it! Sound of Music tour is great and Austria is by far one of the most beautiful places. Enjoy! Thanks for the book ideas!

You picked up “Roses” that was one of the books I recommended. Hope you like it.

We just watched “Chef” this past weekend, too!! LOVED IT!! We decided that we need to find a good cooking show to watch so that we can learn how to MAKE the things we are seeing instead of just sitting there being hungry the whole movie. That was good advice to eat first…..

When Tom and i were at Disney back in 1997 there was a place called The Adventurer’s Club where these actors walked around and ad libbed funny stories and sang songs. One of the funny songs was to the tune of Doe,a deer, a female deer . . .
Dough, with which I buy my beer
Ray, the guy i buy beer from
Me, the one i buy beer for
Fa, the distance to the store
So, I think I’ll have a beer
La la la la la la la
Tea, no thanks, I’ll have a beer
And that will bring us back to dough, dough, dough, dough

We finally got Chef from Netflix and watched it a week or two ago– it was great! And you’re right: it absolutely made my mouth water. Yummmmmm. Thank you so much for the recommendation. Now I’m recommending it to other people, haha!
