october’s kit is available at studio calico!! and i have to tell you, i’m a HUGE fan of field guide. and all of the add-ons, truth be told. yes, i got them all.
you see, i have NO local scrapbook store. 🙁 so SC is the only way to get the latest+greatest. and this month is jam packed with goodies! the ultimate greatest of the greatest.
four layouts is not enough. i have SO much left. i haven’t even really touched a couple of the add-ons.
i’m planning on doing an instagram album of harper’s fashion choices using the amy tangerine album. i have the idea, but not the time. soon, hopefully!! 🙂
note: you’ll notice i used instagram photos on 3 out of 4 layouts. that’s because i have not taken out my “real camera” in so long. i just don’t have 2 hands free to use it very often.
i still take “portrait” type photos each month using my DSLR, but my iphoto has taken over in the day to day category.
my shopping list this month:
mister huey’s:
shop extras:
crate paper farmhouse alpha and labels
crate paper farmhouse chipboard
and here’s what i came up with!

i love the butterflies in this kit so much it’s not funny. i went nuts with them. some scrapbookers like to say butterflies are “overdone”…but honestly, they are my albums, and no one is going to know what everyone else was doing at the time i made the pages.i’ve always loved butterflies!
funny story about this tag. it’s a mistake. i misted it with cameo and lemonade and didn’t like the way it looked at ALL, so i set it aside and misted the other tag in the kit (it’s on the last layout below). i revisited this tag later and decided i liked it and wanted to use it on a page! it’s very messy for me but i still really liked it.
the border to the left of the photo is the mixtape. i trimmed it with scalloped edge scissors (from the girls art stash!) and i love the way it looks. tip: adhere it to paper and then trim it. you can’t see the paper through the tape and it prevents it from tearing or sticking.
my new love is mister huey’s calico shine. it’s so elegant and subtle. in fact, it doesn’t translate well in photos at all. it adds a low-key shimmer to paper. and i adore it. i misted this entire layout in it (including the photo- another oops but i kept it and love it).
in the closeup below, you can see that i took the yellow trim apart and used it for antennae on some of the butterflies. if you trim the ribbon, the tulle pieces fall off. i was going to throw them away (see, i make lots of OOPS when i scrapbook…ha!) but i though i’d use them somehow!

meadow lark (buttons)
mister huey’s calico shine mist
paper doil- purchased from the baking section at craft supply
it is SO hard to share this layout via a photograph. it photographs nothing like it actually looks. here’s another photo from another angle, that’s a little more accurate.
anyway…the shine mist doesn’t photograph as beautifully as it looks in real life.
this one’s simple. a paper doily, shine mist, scattered buttons, and the BEST thicker font EVER! i love the white pen here, too.
isn’t she beautiful? and she looks so grown up here. sigh.

this layout has a special place in my heart… it just matches sadie so very well.
a few notes. i broke the wooden doilies in half and misted them with dewey. i misted them pretty heavily and then let them sit for a bit. i then rubbed the mist off with a paper towel.
i trimmed a few of the flowers edges with my scissors so that they could overlap the envelopes/cardstock.
this was for the pinterest challenge. we had to create one layout that was inspired by a pin on our dt inspiration board. see the one i chose here.
i (very literally) took my title idea from the inspiration. i love the way it turned out, i must say. 🙂 i free-handed the “s”. i just started arranging the buttons until they looked right. i adhered them with glue dots and then put tiny brads in some of the gaps.

have you ever made a layout and the entire process was just JOYFUL? that’s how this layout was for me. i smiled the entire time i made it and it still makes me smile.
this photo of jimmy and cate is so special to me. note: i did specify which baby it was on the back of the layout ;). many of you have told me i won’t know which baby is in photos one day…i always make sure to write the info somewhere.
back to this layout…i love it so much it makes me teary. i think i am going to frame it and put it somewhere. it just speaks my heart. now and then i am able to pour exactly what i am feeling onto paper, and this is one of those times.
it’s not complicated or technique driven…there’s not much to say about it…
i misted the tag lightly with lemonade. i stamped and computer journaled the title/journaling. which is rare for me. but i love it.
i love that he is home. 🙂 i love that i got these emotions down.
thanks for sticking with me…i know this is long. i’m just passionate about this month’s layouts, i suppose. they were special and FUN to create. hope you enjoyed seeing them!
have a beautiful day, friends!
