Sadie Bug

I could just eat her up.

With a spoon…I really really could.

While Harper and Jimmy were off having adventures today

(H is a big time Daddy’s girl and they are doing LOTS of bonding before he goes)

Sadie let me take some pictures of her.

I am just falling in love with her more and more every day.

Having Sadie was an odd experience.

I was terrified and kind of sad because Jimmy wasn’t there to see her born,

but once she came into this world, all of that flew out of my mind.

I just know God sent her to me to show me that my purpose is to be a mama.

She was a BIG surprise. We weren’t planning on having 2 babies 21 months apart.

But..Oh am I ever humbled by the not so gentle reminder God sent me…

the reminder that He is in charge.

And what a plan he had for us.

I love this little girl so much it makes my heart hurt.

And I love watching her fall in love with her sister.

It’s a joy to watch.

She’s laughing lots these days,

snuggling, and blowing bubbles, and grinning, and rolling all over the place.

And thus ends my Ode to Sadie, hehehe.

I don’t know where that came from, I was just going to quickly post some pictures…

I know I write about Miss Harper all the time, but I wanted to give Sadie some special attention.

Random Post

Hey friends!

I’m trying desperately to continue working on my Studio Calico July kit.

I’ve done 3 layouts and I love this kit so much, I’m sure I’ll do a ton more.

Problem is, I’m drowning in stuff.

I can’t work when my space is messy..it stresses me out.

I haven’t bought much lately, I just had too much to begin with.

And I got a wonderful goodie box from Fiskars recently…

as a promotional type thing…

and I’m overwhelmed with scrappy goodness.

Thought I should share the wealth, so to speak.

I’m giving away a flat rate box full of scrap goodies.

Exactly what is yet to be determined.

But I’ll tell you, some of the things you might win

are in the above photo.

So if you are interested, leave a comment, and I’ll draw tomorrow night.

In other news, Harper has been in her big girl bed for a week now.

She LOVES it.

When I go and wake her up in the morning, she makes me put Sadie in bed with her

so they can “chat” and snuggle.

Harper has her hair in “piggies” today and is

verrrry proud of herself. She told everyone at Hobby Lobby about them.

I’ve been collecting goodies for the built in shelves in our bedroom.

I’ve put them all up, but I’m not sure just how I’m going to arrange them yet.

Time is a Funny Thing

Why is it that when you want time to fly by it just CRAWLS

but when you want it to crawl it flies?

I just can’t seem to hold on to these last few weeks we have together…

I try to savor every moment, enjoy us all being together,

but before I realize it, it’s time to go to bed, and that means

that when I wake up we will be one day closer to saying goodbye.

I wonder…will it be easier or harder with 2 children?

Now….before you say I’m crazy, I mean that with children,

there is so much to to, I’m so busy and exhausted all the time.

I wonder if that will make time pass more quickly.

Who knows.

I’m having Jimmy read some of Harper and Sadie’s favorite books

so that I can record him and show harper the videos while he is gone.

We did this once before and I had to leave the room while she watched them.

I need to be strong mommy and I don’t want her to see me crying.

But I know she will treasure those videos.

I’m also going to keep a journal of funny things Harper says,

milestones Sadie reaches…just so I don’t forget.

The thing is, they don’t call often and when they do,

they don’t have much time.

I usually panic and forget what I want to say!

So I think a journal will be key.

Another thing I’m planning on doing is making a

“While You Were Away” album

and doing a page for each month…where i show photos and tell the stories.

I look forward to starting on that project.

Okay, enough about me.

A Little Piece of Heaven on Earth

We spent the weekend at a friend’s ranch.

It was the most relaxing weekend I’ve had in recent memory.

First of all, how gorgeous is this place?

I couldn’t even believe it.

We felt like we were at some really nice lodge in Wyoming…the inside was VERY rustic

and masculine…but crazy nice.

We each had our own bedroom and bathroom, and honestly, I didn’t want to leave.

We were not even close to roughing it, haha!!

No televisions, cell phone coverage, or computers.

I have to tell you, it was refreshing.

We talked, reminisced, laughed, and drank lots of good wine.

Harper was the star of the show…everyone was stunned that she

talks as much as she does. (she got it from her mama)

She adored being the center of attention,

She sang and danced and won everyone over.

Jimmy and I sat in the rocking chairs and looked at the scenery,

and talked.

Talked about the future, the next year…how we are scared, but also how we know we can do it

with the Lord’s help.

I’m so blessed to have such a strong, encouraging husband.

He loves what he does and that is so attractive to me.

he has a passion and a drive for his job…so that makes it easier to let him go.

Sadie is Slowly Killing Me

She is. Have you ever not slept for nights on end?Well, I’ve gotten a few hours, but the hours I get are not good sleep.

Seems Miss Sadie wants to be with her mama all the time.

And that includes the night time.

I know this is all part of the package. And it’s not really that bad.

But early mornings are HARD. I feel like I’ve been hit by a train.

I’m so tired, it hurts.

And I’m not very nice. It’s like a return to the high school/college days

when everyone knew not to talk to Stephanie before 10:00 b/c

she was grumpy.

The plus side is…I’m losing weight.

I think it’s stress combined with nursing Sadie.

Combined with constantly moving, going…holding one of the chickies…

Whatever it is, I’m sure as heck not complaining about losing pounds.

Hehe.

The girls and I went shopping at Ann Taylor Loft on Tuesday.

I’m in this weird place wardrobe-wise.

My closet consists of maternity clothes, college clothes that I’ll probably never fit in again

(and wouldn’t wear even if I could fit in them),

and comfy (read MOM) clothes.

And Im sick of it.

I need Tim Gunn to come make me over.

Big Time.

So I purchased a few things…and I feel good in them!

My goal is to lose weight while Jimmy is deployed.

It’s not hard to do when your husband is in a war zone, trust me.

heheh.

But seriously, I need to take better care of myself. No more ponytail,

work out clothes, lazy fashion.

Anyone feeling the same way I do? Stuck in the same rut?

Yesterday I did something that really helped me feel better.

Lighter, cuter…even younger!

I chopped my hair off. And I mean chopped.

I had about a foot cut off.

There was no point in having long hair. I never ever wear it down.

and it was dragging my face down.

So I went for it!

Okay, I need to stop rambling and go pack.

We are going to meet up with Jimmy’s friends, their wives, and their kiddos

at a ranch in Brenham.

I’m pretty excited to have a semi-grownup weekend.

But I’m not excited about packing, haha.

I’ve been working on the Studio Calico July kit,

Y’all are going to flip out. I am not joking when I say it’s my favorite SC kit ever.

Tonight is sneak peek night, and although I won’t be around, I will post my peeks when I get

back on Friday.

Stop by SC tonight, sneak nights are so much fun!
