Hey…Time???

Time..You are doing that flying by thing again.

And I hate it. How can it be July? How can that be true?
That means I have less than 2 weeks left.
That means I have to stop avoiding what’s about out happen.
Well, too bad. I’m going to put it off for one more day.
I’m tired of crying, and worrying, and I’m tired of doubting myself.
I can, will, and must do this.
I will be a wonderful, strong, mommy.
I will rely on my friends and family.
I will cry if I need to, because that’s okay.
And I will stop talking about it for today.

 

I am moving Sadie into Harper’s room soon.
The room is painted a nice Antique White color and 
The furniture is all from Land of Nod (except for Harper’s bed)
and it’s Antique White, too. I needed to add some color BIG TIME.

 

I’ve always loved kid’s rooms that have that whimsical, crafty touch.
Pottery Barn mixed with their fingerpaintings hanging on the walls…crepe paper hanging from the ceilings. 
Do you know what I mean?

 

So I went to Hobby Lobby and made some cheap purchases to add some
childlike touches to the room.

 

The butterfly, flower,  and lanterns were all on sale.
I hung the lanterns with grosgrain ribbon and tied a bow where the ribbon met the lantern.
I bought 3 of the one in this first picture. They were like 3 bucks,
they are pink silk…one with dots, one with butterflies, and one with swirls.
and there are twinkle lights inside.
If you know me, you may know I am obsessed with twinkle lights!

I had seen some curtains in Pottery Barn kids a while back.
They were sheer and covered in flowers.
The lady who lived here before us left some lovely white sheers in H’s room
My mom laundered and pressed them,
I added some primas with Velcro, and Voila!!

I know this picture is horrible, I need to work on getting a better on
But hopefully you can at least get an idea of how I did it.

 

And some random touches…I bought the knobs for the dresser on sale as well.

I still have alot to do…put up the pink feather tree and decorate it for summer, buy a rug for the floor,
etc. etc.
But it’s coming along!

Who the Hell Said

that going to the zoo in the Texas heat would be fun…

was WRONG. big time.
what’s that? it was my idea?
i’m an idiot. seriously. 
we just got back from spending all day at the zoo
and i am exhausted. Sadie is drenched in sweat. I feel like I ran a marathon.
h loved the animals, but still…so not worth it.

 

i didn’t take any pictures.
i didn’t even take my camera.
sometimes i need to enjoy experiences and being together and 
not have to photograph everything.
i’ve never been someone to take my camera everywhere,
but lately i’ve really been leaving it at home.
i need to focus on our time together.

 

that being said, i did get some photos from friday morning.
harper wanted to play in the sprinkler, but she was freaking out when it hit her head. 
the drops scared her.
so we let her use mommy’s umbrella:
(and yes, in case you were wondering, she’s wearing socks. don’t even ask.)

I also secretly snapped a few when i saw j. and h. having a heart to heart on the steps of our little
barn. Do you know she can say “afghanistan”?  she says “daddy go bye bye soon. go war. go 
afghanistan. daddy brave. harper miss you”. it’s so so sweet:

I’ve been working on the girls’ room all weekend 
and i will have photos to share tomorrow.
let’s just say that primas are a main design element in the room.
mama’s crafty.

Thursday is My Friday

this week atleast…

Jimmy has tomorrow off, so I feel like it’s Friday!
I’m looking forward to a long weekend full of lots of fun and family time. =)

 

Thank you all SO much for your 2 year old activity suggestions.
I put that girlie to work yesterday.
In the morning we went to the Children’s Museum.
My parents bought H a year family pass for her 2nd birthday, and we go about once a week.

 

Then we did water play in the kitchen
and then we made goop (cornstarch and water) and played with it outside.
Ms NO NO MESSY had a hard time with it at first…but she loved it eventually.
And I loved the curiousity in her eyes as she watched it go from a solid to a liquid.
so so so cool

This girl FELL into bed last night. And slept HARD.
I’ll have to keep her busy while J is gone. 
It made the day pass quickly and it was fun for me too.

Heheh. Don’t you just love the look of disgust on her face?
She is not a big fan. And it probably didn’t help that while I was feeding her,
Harper was hollering “YAYYYYY SADIE. WICE SHERSILL IS GOOOOD”….”BIG GIRWL FOOD!!!”
I was giggling and I think we scared her.
So no more of that for a while.

I hope you are enjoying your summers..
It is HOT here. Well, duh, it’s Texas, but I am spoiled from living in NY and WA,
I forgot how dang hot it gets.
If you have any creative indoor ideas for 2 year olds, or links,
please let me know. I’m running out of steam already.

 

Any of you that are in central TX, I’ve been asked to teach a class at Crop Paper Scissors.
It will be sometime in August and It will be using Making Memories…
just wanted to give you a heads up b/c i would LOVE some of you to come.

We’ve Been Busy

We went to Jimmy’s goodbye party/cookout…

all of the boys had an auction to throw pies in the officers faces.

It was hilarious to watch the bidding for Jimmy.
He’s the commander and no one wanted to hit him with a pie.
He only made ten dollars and the guy who did it BARELY hit him with the pie.
But Harper was still tickled.

Until he kissed her with his whipped cream, and then Miss Anti-Messy

We’ve also been snuggling more:
well, by snuggling i mean that sadie was clearly trying
to spoon with Harper.

and fingerpainting..which Miss Anti-Messy
had issues with, but I finally convinced her to let it go
and have fun…and she even ended up using her toes to paint!
