Hello and Goodbye

this week:

we said hello to preschool.

harper wasn’t excited AT ALL.

really. Can’t you tell??

she kind of looks like a mini- me in these pictures. and that makes a certain mama’s heart very happy. i hope she loves school for a LONG time. I did.

we said goodbye to fort hood.

(for the most part)

j will go to work a little bit after he gets back from his 3 weeks of school in GA, but the brigade is dissolving and moving to Ft. Knox. today was the change of command.

so proud of these men and what they have accomplished the past two years.

do you know they stood up a new brigade (built it from scratch) in a year? and deployed immediately after that? pretty amazing. thank you for everything 1-26. we won’t ever forget our time here.

tomorrow is preparation for J heading off for 3 weeks. we will be staying super busy while he is gone and i’m sure i will be blogging LOTS. 😉 i have some projects i’ll be sharing in the coming weeks, too. i know there hasn’t been much craftiness here lately, but i can’t share anything i’ve done lately. sorry, i promise i’ll have something to share soon!

many of you asked about the popsicle holders in the previous post. you can find them HERE. one side holds a popsicle, and the other side holds a cone. they are AWESOME.

soon there will be a new magazine on the racks. and it is called flea market style. ummm, no. i’m not excited about this at all. i’m about as excited as harper was to go to school. 😉 😉 Thanks so much to my friend Lynn for the heads up about this.

Welcoming 32 with Wide Open Arms

Okay. So today I’m the big 3-2 . WHEEEEEEEEEEE!! ;)No really, I’m grateful. Grateful for my health, grateful for another year, just grateful.

And blessed. And loved.

Blessed by the grace of God. Thank you so much Lord for getting me through this past year. It very well may be one of the most defining years of my life. I feel so much stronger, independent, competent, and brave now. This past year shaped me.

Blessed by these sweet girls.

Who teach me every day that they are resilient, beautiful, and strong.

That they can make me happier and frustrate me more than anything in this world (sometimes at the same time).

blessed by the love of this man. who “gets” me and puts up with my antics. not only puts up with them, but laughs at me.

this man who can make me laugh until i fall on the floor in a heap and pee my pants b/c i’m laughing so hard.

this man who fights hard and leads his men with bravery and honor

this man who is a shining example to my girls of the men they deserve.

men who will treat them like a treasure and like they are the most beautiful women on earth. and will have them believing that they are.

blessed by a wonderful family

friends

a hobby that i love

our first house

a life that is beautifully

wonderfully

crazily

infuriatingly

hilariously mine.

filled with promise and hope and love.

So, thank you Lord. For another year. For everything.

Nothing Like Recharging the Batteries a Little Bit

we are back from a weekend away with some of our favorite people in the world.

it’s a new annual tradition and this year was year number two.

we meet up at a beautiful ranch here in texas and it’s something we look forward to all year long.

this is the kind of “texas scenery” that makes me remember why i love texas so much.

this year we celebrated jimmy being home.

these guys have known each other for years.

i credit them and their families for contributing to the amazing man j is today.

i love seeing them all together. throughout the last 10 years i’ve heard lots of the stories they love telling.

and now i’m pretty sure i laugh just as hard as they do when they tell the stories.

before i share the photos, here is a side note.

sadie broke my lens the first day we got there. poor little thing was terrified of the dogs and knocked my camera right off the table. 🙁

so all of these photos are with my kit lens. which i haven’t used in a year.

the first set of photos were HORRIBLE. all blurry and the color was way off.

so i gave up and shot mainly in monochrome. that’s why they are almost all in b/w.

with that being said.

this weekend was all about celebrating:
