Okay, with that (FINALLY) taken care of…here’s what you do when you don’t have your household goods and your house is pretty much empty.
You get a library card:
and then read read read.
You become OBSESSED with watching this show on your laptop:
You venture to the local farmers market and then chow down (on paper plates):
You play peek-a-boo:
You teach your kids your favorite games from when you were little. After all, isn’t that what that big front porch is for?
Drink wine on your back porch and watch the sun set:
You use your imagination:
Play in the backyard all day long:
You learn to eat in…creative and interesting? ways since your high chairs are not here:
You make some new purchases. Hey listen…coffee is a NECESSITY. π
You revel in the good fortune of being TOGETHER. Empty house or not. You know that even though your house may look empty…those are just THINGS you are missing.Your house is (in actuality) FULL.Full of laughter and love and LOUD noises. And best of all, your house has a male voice in it. π
Your house has a daddy in it. One who got to teach his girls to throw a football this week. This house has a husband in it. My bed isn’t empty.
This house is full.
And if all else fails, you just make this face:
Happy Thursday,sweet friends!
Leigh Erin says

LOL!
xoxo ENJOY your new home!

Sabrina L says
Thank goodness for that! I could live pretty easily without much stuff (for the short term) but a mattress is definitely not one of them!
jennifer Camplin says
Ya’ll got a great place to live in and build with plenty of memories!

Ally says
This post makes my HEART full… especially as I sit here and contemplate regret over tossing/donating certain household goods in preparation for my own move. I really marvel at 1. how you move so often… this one move I swear is going to kill me and 2. your wonderful, positive attitude. Your family is lucky to have you at the helm.
Leah says
You always remind me how lucky I am to have a husband who is around all the time. It’s so easy to get annoyed with the socks he took off an left in my daughters room while telling her a bedtime story. The socks aren’t the important part of that sentence… I wish you a very happy year of picking up socks!
Stephanie Howell says
oh,sister…even i get annoyed at socks. and dishes not put in the dishwasher. π but i do try my hardest to keep things in perspective! xoxo
Shannon Shurtleff says
Adore! You are so positive!! π We have only done DITY moves, never let them have our stuff. LOL!! Our next one should be with the Army. I am tired of packing myself.

xoxo
Heather V says
Sweet post π I love Edith Wharton!
Heather R says
Your house is gorgeous! I’m pretty sure your stuff is delayed “on purpose” so that you all will have this time together before you have to unpack. What a great way to HAVE to spend time together. You will look back on these days with much happiness. π
diana says
You have the essentials – family, a porch or two, and wine! Stuff is just stuff. You might even be able to downsize when your ‘stuff’ arrives. Doing without can give you a headstart on what is realy important. Your ‘stuff’, maybe not the kids’ stuff. LOL
diana says
BTW, that is one gorgeous house! Best wishes for a great year. π
Lissa says

Traciblogs says
my heart is filled with happiness for you and your family stephanie. may this be the best year for the 6 of you since you became a family. you are so very right, your house may not be filled with material items, but it is filled with love & laughter and that’s ALL that matters. xoxo

Keep the stress between you and jimmy and make this an adventure. Get a tent or even make one and let the girls sleep under the stars with jimmy to learn what daddy does. The next 12 months should be bonding with him. He is trained for such challenges show his girls the fun can be had when things go wrong. Their daddy is one tough soldier then let the girls enjoy these things with him. These are the memories of their Daddy. Their memories of you will be fun special girly times when daddy is away sometimes far away protecting them. Give the watered down version of how he protects then and bond with those beauties of yours x

You’re right this is all just “stuff” (I can’t imagine what you’re going through, LOL) but without our family…
Thank you for sharing, I love the pictures!
