The Problem
SPOILER ALERT: Read all the way to the end. There’s a really great giveaway there!
This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Jord Watches. All opinions are 100% mine, and I wouldn’t type these words if I didn’t mean them.
I am married to the world’s pickiest man who pays attention to every single detail, no matter how small it might seem. And I mean this in the best possible way. It serves him well and helps him succeed.
But.
Sigh.
Sometimes it can be slightly infuriating.
He has been looking for a unique men’s watch for years. YEARS. Ever since we first met, which was in 2000. Yikes.
This isn’t an exaggeration, y’all. I have bought him so many watches. From Jcrew to Timex to Iron Man. And he acts like he likes them and might even wear them for a few months, but then they mysteriously stop working, or he doesn’t like them anymore, or they just randomly disappear.
Canvas bands/metal bands/rubber bands. NOPE. None of them have fit the bill. I actually stopped trying to find a watch for him a few years ago. I didn’t think there was anything I could find to fit the dream watch that he invented in his mind.
Around Christmas time I decided that I was going to try to find him a unique men’s watch for Valentine’s Day. It stressed me out just thinking about it, though.
We’ve been trying to find him some classic but modern civilian clothes for when he’s not in uniform. Guys, that’s so much harder than it sounds. I mentioned he’s picky. The military life is actually great for him because he has limited options when he just grabs a uniform. When he’s out of the uniform, it becomes a bit trickier. We’ve been adding to his wardrobe over the past year because I want him to have some great pieces when he takes command this summer.
I knew that a good watch was part of this but my research didn’t lead me to anything special.
Jord Wood Watches
When Jord reached out for a collaboration and giveaway I thought the timing was perfect. I did a ton of research and decided that their wood watches were amazingly unique and chic and modern and masculine and basically a great fit for Jimmy.
You guys know I’m incredibly choosy about sponsorships and partnerships. I don’t ever want to be a walking ad or come across as fake or salesy and I only say yes to collaborations when they make total sense. This is one of those times. I only like sharing things I (we) truly love and things we think are helpful, orginal, or meaningful.
Jord sent him the Conway Watch in dark sandalwood and burgundy and I am not even kidding when I tell you that Jimmy LOVES it. I had no idea that wood watches were even a possibility, but this material is the perfect match for him.
He is so impressed with the packaging, the quality, and basically just the fact that it looks SUPER COOL on his arm.
These watches are hand-crafted and unique. During my research I found out that Jord uses everything from walnut to bamboo, from sandalwood to zebrawood. They offer a one year warranty and the way they send and wrap the watch is absolutely stunning. You can even engrave the back of the watch to make it extra special.
I truly think that these make the perfect gift if you are looking for a unique men’s watch. For Valentine’s Day, birthdays, or for any reason. I have always had the hardest time knowing what to buy Jimmy! Do any of y’all struggle with the same thing?
Side Note: I am SO damn proud of him for sitting still long enough for me to take these photos. He even offered some posing ideas (like the one above) and I almost peed my pants. HAHAHA!
Anyway, back to being professional. (I COULD NEVER SURVIVE AS A FASHION BLOGGER)…
Thanks to Jord we have the perfect watch. Thanks to J.Crew, Jos A. Bank, and Nordstrom I am on my way to dressing him to match the watch. But the struggle is real and the road is LONG y’all. Lots of plaid and textures, and I feel that that is TOTALLY appropriate for Alaska.
Here are some more shots of the packaging and the watch:
$100 GIVEAWAY and 10% OFF CODE

Can I just begin by telling you how much I adore following you and watching the way you and your family live this life with such grace and humor? I have been a follower for years and have felt so much kinship through the things you go through from moving to style and raising kids. We are a former military family as well; my husband retired this past August after serving 24 years in the Army and I have been doing my best to transition his wardrobe from uniforms to business casual of all things. He is now in a management position for a large security firm in our area and needs to “dress up” (dress shirts, slacks, ties) every day. Talk about the biggest shift in daily prep; I have gotten into the habit of laying his clothes out every night for the next day to avoid any potential pitfalls the morning of. He is SO picky about the styles and cuts of every day clothes and would much rather have a uniform to throw on every day. He, too, is a lover of a great watch and has quite the collection from gifts and/or spontaneous purchases. Unfortunately, he will lose interest in one quickly and will begin the hunt again (vicious cycle). ANYWAY, this was a great post, I entered the drawing and I loved your IG review as well. Have a FABULOUS day! -B

Wow, gorgeous watches! My husband absolutely loves watches–he has 4 at least, but is always up for getting a new one.

My husband is exactly the same – he had a watch he loved while in the service but that was long ago and the watch has since died. He has resorted to smart watches to keep up for his job, but it would be awesome to have a snazzy, classy, watch to wear when we go out somewhere special. I think he would go crazy for the Dover in Ebony and Copper. Thanks so much for sharing!!

I’ve seen others post about Jord watches I am always in awe of how gorgeous these watches are! I would be ECSTATIC if I won. My hubby would be quite handsome in one of the Jord watches. 😉

I’m kind of superstitious. They say if you give your lover a watch it means your time together will be limited. So watches are out of the question for my hubby (not that he wears one!) But I suppose if you look at it another way: we all die at some point so our time is definitely limited together…. 🙁

What a gorgeous watch! I am thrilled that your husband has finally found a watch that suits him perfectly.

I love these watches. I would pick Dark sandalwood and smoke for me 🙂 Good luck on your move to Alaska! As always, I will be following along.

I entered. I’d love to get one of these for my husband. He loves watches and I’ve never seen any like these. Thanks for stepping out of your comfort zone for us. 🙂

LOVE the post (as always)! The watches are all just beautiful!! I picked a favorite to enter, but not sure I could decide. If I was chosen, I would probably ask my husband which one he prefered first to see if he was interested. He used to wear a watch and loved the look! He hasn’t worn a watch for years, but he might be willing to try it again! 🙂 It would be a super fun surprise!! Thanks for the chance!

That’s a fab looking watch and so glad that J likes it! I’ve entered the giveaway, I really like the look of the Purpleheart Plum ladies watch (not sure if they would want to ship to the UK?)
I’ve followed you for years (since before the twins were born!) and love to read about your life … excited to hear about the move to Alaska (which sounds very exotic to someone living in London!). Wishing you a great week.

My husband is the same! So picky about watches especially. When he’s not on Army time he is in the garage tinkering with wood projects. THIS will be absolutely perfect for him! I’m torn between the Dover and Conway styles but then all the wood choices are gorgeous so it’s going to take me a hot second to narrow down THE one. Thanks so much for sharing this collaboration.

These are lovely. Robert is so watch picky, it’s not even funny. He has one he loves, and that’s it. We each bought ourselves watches on a trip to Paris, so I’m okay that he still wears it. As a matter of fact, just last night he called it his “Paris watch”. Works for me. 🙂

My husband is the same, and I think he would love one of those watches!! My fav was the Hyde series Ebony and Iron.

Wow like you, I have a watch picky husband too. He worked in the US navy as well so I also gave up looking for him. For some strange reason he also likes wood. Wood pen, wooden phone cover (that broke after the first week), so we’ve given up looking, until your post.
W are even looking for marching wooded wedding bands.
Oh man….he is going to die when he sees these watches.
Thank you so much for your wonderful post, I was salivating by the end of it lol.
All the best in Alaska, are the girls excited?

LOVE, LOVE! I was not familiar with Jord watches, but my husband is a watch connoisseur! I have been keeping my eye open for a new type of watch to get him for Valentine’s or our anniversary in March and really like this style…something totally different from his usual Citizen and Bulova brand watches. I really liked the Meridian series, but several of them caught my eye. Very cool giveaway! Thank you for the ideas!!

My dad and a brother are wood turners. They make bowls, pens, etc from wood. I love this idea.. to give them something from wood that would speak to them in their own medium. I’m entering and hoping to be the lucky winner. Thanks.. and love your posts. You are real, gurl.

I would probably get the Fieldcrest watch in dark sandalwood for my husband.

Thank you for sharing! My husband is so hard to but for. We take trips instead of buying each other gifts. Although he does surprise me from time to time with a beautiful piece of jewelry or a purse.
I lOve the darK sandalwood In smoke and mint.
