February was another AMAZING month for reading. AH-MAZ-ING. Again, I credit this amazing reading community on Facebook. They make me SO EXCITED about books.
As always, you can keep up with what I’m reading in real time on Goodreads and Instagram.
I’d love for you to check in and tell me your favorite this month!
Happy reading, xo
Where the Forest Meets the Stars by Glendy Vanderah –
Oh my heart. Sob sob sob. I loved, adored, TREASURED this book and I didn’t want it to end. I don’t want to give anything away so I’ll keep it brief but it was just PERFECT. Full of magic and hope and despair and pain and longing and love and loss and fear and more magic. Woven throughout the story are threads of love. Love lost, love gained, love that the characters dreamt of but weren’t sure they deserved, weren’t sure they were capable of. Tenderly and beautifully written. FIVE STARS
The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren
AHHHHH Christina Lauren does it again! These two write chemistry like none other and this book is no exception. I think Olive and Ethan might be my favorite couple to date! Olive is a strong, independent, curvy, smart woman and Ethan is gorgeous but also deeply sensitive and caring. And together….BAM! Explosive.
I love the whole “wait you love me? I thought you hated me!” trope and these two pull it off beautifully . The love scenes were so sizzling hot and the dialogue. I even laughed out loud a couple of times. All of the supporting characters were completely endearing as well.
I’m hoping for a sequel based on Ami…fingers crossed!
FOUR STARS
The House Swap by Rebecca Fleet
An entertaining, if predictable, thriller. Was a nice palate cleanser.
TWO STARS
A Danger to Herself and Others by Alyssa Sheinmel
This was a really compelling young adult novel. At first I thought it was a thriller but it was really more of a profile of mental illness. It was heartbreaking and hard to read but I’m really glad I did.
FOUR STARS
Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens (audible)
I loved everything about this book. I completely fell in love with the characters anf the setting. I tend to love books where the setting is a main character and this was no exception. Absolutely beautifully and perfectly done. I listened to this on Audible and it was perfect.
FIVE STARS
Our Kind of Cruelty by Araminta Hall
Twisted and unsettling but ultimately unsatisfying- left me cold.
TWO STARS
The Perfect Child by Lucinda Berry
Seriously disturbing and screwed up but I couldn’t.stop.reading. There are no words…and I feel yucky saying this was ‘good’…but I devoured it.
FOUR STARS
Tell Me Lies by Carola Lovering
Ugh. This guy. THIS.GUY. We’ve all known a narcissistic, manipulative jerk like him. And that made the book so hard to read. But I thought this was a pretty good representation of an unhealthy relationship and how the protagonist eventually escaped.
THREE STARS
Dear Wife by Kimberly Belle
I enjoyed this book SO MUCH MORE than I thought I would. It’s just a deeply interesting and good book about a fierce woman and her fight to survive. I know there is technically a twist but it’s not done in that annoying “LET’S ALL TRY TO OUT-TWIST EACH OTHER AND BE THE NEXT GONE GIRL” type way. It’s done in an honest and organic way. I devoured this book and I’m so glad I read it!
FOUR STARS
On the Come Up by Angie Thomas
I think Angie Thomas is amazing. She does so many things well. Perfectly capturing the essence of a true teenager (her YA heroines don’t speak and act like adults or like an adult acting like a teen), sharing the struggles of black Americans, and now I find out the girl can also write amazing rap lyrics? Is there anything she CAN’T do? I really liked this book. One aspect especially loved was the mother/daughter relationship. I thought it was written just beautifully!
FOUR STARS
The First Mistake by Sandie Jones
I really loved the Other Woman by Sandie Jones and I knew right away I’d want to read her new one! First, let me begin by saying that I flew through this book. I had a suspicion I knew what was going on and I was completely wrong. This book was super entertaining. That said, I just didn’t truly connect with it for some reason. I never really got a feel for the characters’ true personalities and the ending lacked substance for me. I feel like it ended quite abruptly. I’m glad I read this book and I found it a good book to just relax and enjoy…I just wanted more from it.
THREE STARS
Freefall by Jessica Barry
This one is a real page turner. In a twisty, authentic way, not in a showy way. I especially loved the mother/daughter story line.
FOUR STARS
The Lieutenant’s Nurse // 99 Percent Mine // The Last Romantics // Waiting at Hayden’s
- Okay, so Daisy Jones and the Six was a NO BRAINER. I read an ARC that a sweet friend lent me, I LOVED it, and I want my own copy. It’s excellent and only makes my love for TJR grow stronger!
- I’ve had Queenie on my radar ever since I read about it in Book Page. I’ve known this will be my selection for the “written by a woman of color” category on my reading challenge.
- My last selection was Before She Knew Him. Peter Swanson is a favorite and I consistently give his books great ratings. This one sounds awesome.
Thanks for stopping by today, happy Friday and happy March!

Such a great round-up!! I love your recommendations. Would you mind specifying when you are reading an advanced readers copy, just so we know the book isn’t out yet? Thanks for sharing with us!!!
