there is some good. some good news.
our friend richard has been freed in syria.
i’ve been so worried for him. you see,he’s genuine.
when i think of him, i think of his eagerness. his earnestness. and he has a bit of what i’ve always seen as vulnerability.
that’s not a bad thing. he’s a good guy.
one of the good guys. and wouldn’t you agree that our world needs the good guys right now?
and speaking of the good guys, i’m tossing around some ideas with friends.
ideas of how the crafting world can help the good people of newtown.
please check back y’all.
and…welcome home richard. we need you around.you make the world a better place.
xoxo

I’m so happy that your friend is free. Good news is such a blessing.
This tragedy at Newtown has my class of third and fourth graders shaken. Yesterday was one of the toughest teaching days I’ve had in 33 years because they had so many questions and the emotions ran so high. One of my fourth grade boys stood up and said he would never allow me to try to hide him because he would defend his class and his teacher and would rather he was injured or killed than to know he didn’t try to stop a bad person himself. Fourth graders should not have to think about these things.
I would LOVE to help with some type of creative release for me or my classroom kids.

So happy for your friend! I can’t imagine what he’s been through. You probably know Amber at Damask Love but I thought I’d share the link to her Sandy Hook project in case any of your readers might like to help her project as well: http://www.damasklove.com/drawn-together-for-newton-a-progress-report/

Brenda…thank you for being a teacher and being there for your kids to help answer their questions and concerns. This post just made me gasp and cry at the same time. Any child…a fourth grade boy …should NEVER have to even worry about something like defending his fellow students and teacher from the bad person! My prayers to you and all other teachers, first responders, protectors of our country …our fellow men and women. Be safe hug your loved ones and find hope! It seems like finding HOPE is the only thing we have right now.

I am thrilled your friend and the 2 other are free and SAFE!! I like to think they were freed because someone thought the US has been thru enough the last few days with the tragedy in CT that an angel was looking over these three that brought them to safety and the HOPE that there is still some goodness in the world.

I’m so glad to see you blogged about this! I agree 100%! I’m not sure if I shared it before with you, but when my boyfriend Eiric and I went up to New York in December of 2010 Richard met with us at the Half King. We talked for about an hour or so about a ton of things (I was so nervous I didn’t know what to say hardly!), and it was the most incredible thing! What really shocked and overwhelmed me was when right before he was about to leave he stood in front of me thanking ME for my support for him. I couldn’t even believe it. So yes, you are SO right. He IS such a good-hearted person that the world truly is a better place with him in it. 🙂 Before he left I somehow managed to stop him to give him a hug. Normally I would be way too shy to do that, especially with someone I admire and adore so much. When I first heard of his missing in Syria all I could think about was that night and that hug and how I wish I could do all of it over again. I was so relieved waking up to the good news the morning after that I cried tears of relief!
Anyway, so sorry for my rambling! Just wanted to share that with you.
Lots of love to the Howells! I wish I could meet you all someday; I adore your family so much! 🙂
