I just wanted to quickly share some photos of the Christmas decorating happening in our little Italian apartment.
My favorite thing about this apartment is the ceilings. The thing that’s taken the most getting used to? Italian marble floors. They are COLD. And hard.
When I purchased these OOOOOLLLLLD cubbies from the antique market downtown, I had no idea what to do with them. Turns out they are perfect for the Christmas treasures I’ve gathered over the years! 🙂
A few detail shots:
Well, that’s it for today. It’s beginning to look (and feel) a lot like Christmas around here and I can’t tell you how happy that makes me.
Haven’t done a single page in my December Daily, didn’t get around to wrapping the 25 Christmas books this year, and I don’t have a mantel to hang my stockings on (they are on our coat tree).
But you know what?
I am okay with it. More than okay. Because none of that really matters. I’ll get to it when/if I get to it.
My heart is full.

WOW, it’s gorgeous and so cozy and wonderful. So happy your doing well and your heart is full, I love that feeling. We bought a real tree for the first time in 6 years and I’m beyond excited and loving it. My heart is full right now too, just wanting it to be a quiet and simple Christmas. Enjoy your first Christmas in the new house.

I love your cubbies and you can change them whenever you want. I have ceramic tile floors and yes, they are hard, too. There was spilled water on them years ago, and I fell from the water. I hurt my back and knee badly so please be careful. Blessings

Love the cubbies…and the treasures tucked inside. It’s good to let go hey? I’m trying… There are always things to leave undone if time does not permit. I need to be better at that. A lot better. Your home looks very festive and lovely. Merry Christmas to you all.

Your picture looks like one from a magazine- just lovely! You’re right, don’t worry about the other stuff…I did the 25 wrapped books, but between my 3 boys we haven’t been able to unwrap just one a day- I think we only have about four wrapped ones left. And as for the December Daily- I think I almost like doing it all at the end of the month better- that way you get to kind of relive all the memories as you document them, keeping a December journal helps make this approach a lot easier. And who needs a mantel anyway- with a 3 year old like you I spend more time making sure that he hasn’t pulled the step stool around to take the breakables down…I didn’t even put the pretty nativity set out this year, two years ago his brother did the same thing and dropped and broke a sheppard on the tile floor, for our house we will stick to the Fisher Price nativity until the boys are in college! But it all works out in the end doesn’t it- whatever gets put out always seems to be just right, just what we need to enjoy the season. Merry, merry!

Very Tim Holtz! and Christmas needs to be different every year…makes it special every year. And really, it’s all about the food! and drink, and getting together. And celebrating a very special birthday.

you are right, NONE of that matters, if you want it done, it will get done and if it doesn’t that’s okay too! Our stockings are on the floor by the fireplace because I can’t justify buying mantel hooks, there are two nails on each side where the girls are hanging and their stockings are all that matter! michael, me , the dog and the guinea pigs don’t really need them to be hanging! we feel lucky to even have a fireplace! I actually just am happy that Michael will be with us for one more Christmas and for Savannah’s 14th Birthday (on Christmas Eve). you have the right idea steph, NONE of these other things matter!
xoxo.
