Can someone please tell me why it took me so long to discover Book of the Month? If any monthly subscription SCREAMS my name, it’s this one.
Each month, you select one of five hardback books to be sent to you. The books are always varied, and they are mostly books I haven’t found on my own. Which I LOVE. When I first started BOTM, I assumed that the books would be ones I’ve already read, since I’m such an avid reader. I was totally wrong.
So on the first of each month, the picks are revealed. You can select one to be sent to you OR you can pass for that month. I love that.
Here are the different pricing plans:
1-month plan = $16.99 per month
3-month plan = $14.99 per book, or $44.97
12-month plan = $11.99 per book, or $143.88
Right now I’m paying for the one month plan, but I’m kind of regretting that decision. I wish I would have just paid for the 12 month plan and saved some money. I just wanted to make sure I loved it first.
I got this blurb off of the BOTM website and it pretty much perfectly sums up why I love this subscription:
If you’re an avid reader, one thing is for certain: if you only shop the “bestseller” lists, you’re going to miss many of the best stories. That’s why we work hard to bring you the gems: well-written, immersive stories that transport you, give you thrills, and tug at your heartstrings. The books that are truly worth reading.
Yes Yes YES!
For those of you who want to see if you like BOTM, I have a couple of really great deals for y’all
1. $5 for your first month and a one month subscription using the code READ5
2.30% off the 3 month subscription and a free tote using code 30TOTE
I was thinking of starting a monthly virtual book club for those of you who sign up. Would y’all be interested in that? I know it would be kind of tricky because there are five books, but maybe I could share what I picked and what I thought about it, and then y’all could do the same.
Anway…let me know what you think. I think it would be crazy fun (I might be able to set up a group chat), but maybe I’m the only one who thinks so. Bahaha!
Oh- and before I forget, I think I’m going to choose The Couple Next Door. The Amy Schumer book looks sorta interesting, but I’m wondering if it would annoy me.
That’s enough babbling for now. Here’s what I need to know. Talk to me goose! Geese???
- Do you want to do a monthly BOTM chat/book club?
- What book should I choose?
xoxo

I think you’d love Anne Bogel’s podcast “What Should I Read Next” Looks like you already know one of her guests, Jessica Turner 🙂

always on my list!

I chose the same book – The Couple Next Door! BUT in fairness, I tend to like a lot of the same things you do. It would be fun to try to discuss them somehow, but I can also see that being a bear to try to arrange. I am up for whatever. Thank you for introducing me to BOTM club!!!

I am definitely joining, and alllll the books look good! I would LOVE to be a part of the book chat as well!
Lisa Woodhart says
I just joined and would love the idea of a book club. Thank you for the code 🙂

I just read The Couple Next Door…it was suggested on Amazon when I purchased Behind Closed Doors…both were very good and I recommend them!! Didn’t want to put them down!
Sara says
I totally want to do a book club!!! I would pick whatever book you did… Maybe some subgroups for the other books? …hehe you should read all 5 and run 5 groups — totally kidding! If we get a big enough group and we select a different book, maybe have people only participate if they pick the same book… And some can “take a month off”. I’m game however it works!

I am avoiding committments right now. lol. I am following my own random flow. Weird hey? But I am reading more ebooks from the library off of my computer. We moved and had to box tons of books. Never again! Ha! But most were my older son’s. He is a history fanatic. Otherwise, this sounds like a really fun idea. I am so glad you can create time to read.

I would love to be in!! I have been a member for a while. This month I picked the Couple Next Door and All at Sea (I have been reading about this book for a while and the story is devastating and amazing at the same time)

I’d be interested in a book club. We read a lot of similar books. The Couple Next Door popped up as a suggested read after i added behind closed dooRs on goodreads.

I love Book of the Month club! I joined about 3 months ago and have just loved the logo on the book covers and I’ve gotten some great reads! I am debating between A Gentleman in Moscow and All At Sea.
Kimber-Leigh says
I discovered it 3 months ago–the first two I read were on my to-read list anyway, and I liked them okay. (I Let You Go and Before The Fall.) About to start last months selection: Circling the Sun, before A Gentleman in Moscow is delivered! Would love to chat BOTM with you in some format!
Evalyn says
I’m in month two of my BOTM sub. I love it so far! For this month I chose Behold the Dreamers and A Gentleman in Moscow. I think someone else mentioned the podcast, “What Should I Read Next”. I second the recommendation. And check out the blog Modern Mrs. Darcy. I’m always up for a book club!
Laura says
I will join in the chats if they occur and I’ve had time to read the book. BOMC sounds very tempting but I realized that acquiring more books isn’t what I want to do right now, so I would read through the library or by purchasing the ebook. I have so many books in my house that I haven’t read. 🙂
Liz Simon says
I would be in!

It’s an interesting idea, I’d just rather have the books on my kindle. I would love to say I’m an avid reader, because I have 92 books on my Amaxon wishlist right now, and another 15 ir so on my kindle that I haven’t yet read. But I really have to know…how do you find time to read? I only have a 6 yr old and a 3yr old, work 40 hrs a week with a 50min commute each way. With 5 kids you have to be working your rear off. I only get exercise in when I walk on my lunchbreak. And I only get maybe a few pages read at night before I fall asleep with my kindle in my hands!
Stephanie Howell says
Every night before I sleep I read for at least an hour. I also take my book everywhere with me. I read in the carpool line, while I’m waiting, before my classes at the gym, WITH my kids. They read their books and I read mine. but I’m not working and commuting. I’ve got 4/5 in school.

I also get this–would LOVE a book club! I came THIS close to choosing the Couple Next Door, but thought it my pregnant high-anxiety state it might not be the best idea:)
Casey says
Love the idea of this book subscription, I’m sad it’s not available for Canada, hopefully at some point! I’ve been devouring books like crazy lately, The Couple Next Door is on my list soon!
