1. I am so over the diet portion of the Whole Life challenge. I’m struggling through but man, I’m uninspired.
2. I finally crave exercise every day. This is a VERY foreign feeling to me. But I’m grumpy if I don’t fit a workout in. I love it but it’s so weird!
3. I think I’m done with Scandal. The.way.they.all.talk.like.this. has officially driven me nuts.
4. I don’t get manicures. Seriously. I’ve gotten once since I got married 11 years ago.
5. I’ve lived in Italy for over a year and I haven’t visited Rome yet. We are planning to spend Christmas there, though, so this one will be remedied soon.
6. FB really brings out people’s hidden racism, close-mindedness, and ugliness, doesn’t it? I’m so discouraged over some things I read there today. Also- do people even verify news sources before they post stories as fact? It would be funny if it wasn’t so sad.
7. I got my first calluses from CrossFit! I was so excited I sent a friend a picture. She said I was funny, I think she meant weird. HA!
8. Every morning I set my alarm clock to get up an hour before the girls. Most mornings I hit snooze and actually get up at the same time as them. Which means that mornings are always chaotic.
9. Have you seen the Jimmy Fallon “EW!” sketches? This weekend (after listening to ‘My Favorite Things’ from the Sound of Music for the 29184082304th time) Jimmy taught the girls to say “Schnitzel with noodles? EW.” And I can’t.stop.laughing about it. Every time they say it I laugh until I cry.
10. I have the weakest arms ever. I mean honestly. No upper body strength. My arms are almost completely worthless. Like noodles. I did TWO pushups last weekend and was really excited. I am fairly certain that I will NEVEREVEREVER get a pull up. And I’m totally okay with that. I just won’t ever be a hardcore CrossFitter. I’m like the worlds okay-est CFer ever.
11. I love rap. I have since I was about 14 years old. By far my favorite genre of music. I know all of the words to almost every rap song from the 90s.
12. Sometimes I completely tune the girls out and go into some weird mom zone/survival mode. And then they will ask me a question and I’ll say something like “cool!!!” and Sadie will yell “THAT DOESN’T EVEN MAKE SENSE AS AN ANSWER TO THAT QUESTION!” uhhhh.
13. I have a major scar between my eyes. In college, in the parking lot outside of a bar, a boy threw me over his shoulder, trying to flirt, and dropped me right on the concrete. FROM HIS SHOULDERS. Yep. Cut all the way to the bone.
14. I go in my craft room at least twice a day and look at my stuff and then leave.
15. Today I was shopping and gave someone the side eye for getting too close to me. It was a mannequin. Then I started laughing so hard I snorted. I am stuck between praying no one witnessed this and really hoping someone did.

God, I just love you.
LMAO~ you crack me up.
I am pretty sure Sadie is your clone in this way.
I have only ever had 2 manicures and one was my wedding day and the
other recently when my sil decided I had to have one before we went to Disney!
Pedicures, I have had 4 one for my wedding, two that friends made me go get with them and one for disney. LOL! so NOT my thing!
My girls LOVE them though!

No wonder Sadie is so funny! You are a hoot! Your blog posts usually either make cry or laugh out loud. I bumped into a mannequin the other day & said excuse me – my husband just walked away shaking his head while I burst into giggles!
Laura says
Laughing at the mannequin story. That is so something that would happen to me, complete with the snorting laughter. π I hit the snooze button multiple times every single morning when it would be so much better for me to get up when it first goes off. Bed=cozy
Theresa says
HAHAHAHA love the post today!!
sherried says
Thanks for sharing. And thanks for the LOL on #15. Made my day!
Mary Jo says
I literally laughed out loud at number 15. I would so do that!
And I don’t know why it’s so hard to get up in the morning and moving. I set my alarm for 6:40 but rarely get up until 7. I don’t even hit snooze though since I would have to get out of bed as my alarm clock is across the room to prevent me from hitting snooze. I just tune it out.
Which leads to number 12. I definitely have the ability to tune out all noise around me most days which makes me look like a total space cadet. I really feel bad sometimes when I do this but it’s a sanity saver for me at times.
Barb says
Oh, man, that’s how I feel about Scandal, too! It just bugs. I still love Grey’s Anatomy and I think How to Get Away With Murder is a great show. So I’m still team Shonda Rhimes in general.
Jennifer says
14 is me and 15 made me chuckle!
leslie says
So what you’re saying is you have arms that are like “schnitzel with noodles? EW!” hahaa. Just made myself laugh. And, until your post, I had totally forgotten about my high school boyfriend that dropped me from his shoulders after he tripped on his overalls’ strap. Luckily, the skin grew back on the side of my face. ahh good times. But can you do the Kidd Rock “cowboy baby” rap portion??? never could get that one!!
Shani Kowalczyk says
Made me laugh in a morning I needed one, Thank you π snort snort π
Mary Beth says
My list would have started with #14. Sigh, that’s me, too, these days.
Hoping it changes for the better….for both of us. <3
Candy says
Ok, walking into your craft area and then leaving… had me laughing hysterically. I so relate.
Kelly F says
Ok – 14 and 15 got me to actually laugh out loud. π I wish I knew you in person; I know we’d be good friends!
And so amazed by your attitude with a) living in a foreign country, b) that country being Italy – now come on! how cool is that, c) on a diet …seriously in Italy! are you crazy!, d) and doing all this while being a military wife with 4 kids – including twins! You are a hero to me! (even though I am at grandparent stage now)
Love to read your blog! Thanks for being open and real.

great blogpost. thanks for being real!!! and sharing yourself with your loving blogreaders π

BTW I was in Rome in March and I hate to say this but didn’t really care for it as much as London and Paris….just my opinion but would love to visit the rest of Italy especially after seeing it thru your eyes!

I’m laughing so hard about the mannequin! HA!!!!
DIanne says
Love your list! Re: no. 10: My son had to take a class in college called something like Lifetime Fitness for Body Health. After a strength assessment he was told that his lack of arm strength was βhazardous to himself and othersβ which made us all laugh, as neither my husband nor I have much natural arm strength, and were never good at things like climbing ropes and chin-ups.
Michelle says
LOL about the mannequin Ginny. It made me giggle.

1. I ADORE YOU. ALWAYS AND IN ALL THINGS.
2. The thing is… it is moderation. You need LOTS of those good pure foods in your life but it sounds like you’re at a place where you can balance it out so there is better variety/options/you don’t get bored and go hardcore pizza/carb queen.
3. I quit FB almost 3 years ago. Never once have I regretted that choice.
4. Have I mentioned you are amazing? Love you mama. keep rockin it out!
Michelle says
Oh Steph, you crack me up. I think I tie with you on the spaghetti arms. I walk into my scraproom and walk out quite often lately. Not sure what that is all about. The mannequin story made me laugh. Too funny. I am feeling better to know I am not the only one to snort when they laugh. I watched some of Jimmy Fallon’s Ew when he had Taylor Swift on. LOL Thanks for the great blog posts, Steph. I agree with the others about Sadie having your sense of humor. Hope all is well with you all! π
Carol L says
I always find your posts such a great read! I’m with you 100% on the Facebook thoughts which is why I no longer use it. Jimmy Fallon is hilarious, and the best “EW” yet was with Will-I-am playing Mir-I-am! A chick with a full beard π I can’t wait to see the pics of Rome when you get there! I’ve already had a lovely European vacation through your gorgeous photos since you’ve been in Italy! I almost forgot…… I wish there was a video of you giving that mannequin the evil side-eye! I can’t stop laughing π
Linda says
I love this post, as I love all your posts.
I’ve done the same thing to a mannequin, I’ve even spoken to one, thinking it was a real person LOL (I only saw them in my peripheral by the way, I’m not so dense as to speak to one face to face lol!)
I’m over Scandal too. I love a couple of the characters, but the father is driving me MAD, I’m sick of the President acting like a sulking schoolboy, I’m tired of them talking just like you said, where. every. word. is. emphasised. until. theyhaveastringofwordstheysayreallyfast.
I like this post so much I might try to do one the same on my blog. Of course I’ll link back to you to give credit for the original idea π
Emma says
Love your post! Well done on the craving exercise, that is awesome – for real, not kidding π Cracked up at the mannequin and also the craft room, I do that too and sort of don’t even realise I’m doing it! Completely get that about FB. I got off a few years ago and recently got back on to keep in touch with a friend who moved to Canada. I have a grand total of 26 people on my page – all people who live away from me and that I love dearly. It is a great way to see what’s going on in their lives and I just ignore all other friend requests! I’m mean like that π
Julie says
I look in my craft room and leave, too! Ha! I can’t even remember the last time I actually made something in there.
Nicole H says
I can relate to #14. And I’m trying so hard to go in there and do something. Even if I just put photos into pockets or cut paper to “get ready”.
My 9yo daughter finds mannequins creepy. She’ll love your story

It made me think of your tv shows there.

I had an issue with #6 yesterday, but on IG rather than FB. For reals! Someone made a totally rude and MEAN comment on a pic of my oldest girl. I couldn’t believe it. I deleted it and reported them. Not that I expect anything to be done, but STILL! I don’t know how you bloggers deal with it. And I gotta cop to #12. I zone out, but I totally own up to it. When my girls stop talking I look right at them and say, “I wasn’t listening. What?”. You may not have seen the Lego Movie yet but there’s a line where the main character is zoning out on what the cute girl is saying and just thinking she’s cute. When she catches him at it he says, “I think I got it, but just in case tell me the whole thing again. I wasn’t listening.” It’s so right in so many ways.
Megan says
Love this post. You always make me smile. I never get manicures either and never wear polish…but I love nail polish! I love all the different colours and names. So weird! I’ve been loving looking at lots of different fancy manicure designs on Instagram and I’ve decided for Christmas I’m going to get my nails done up nice for the Christmas season.. Just for fun, something like this http://instagram.com/p/hxlGJhsEVC/ :).
Joy Taylor says
Oh my girl you make me laugh, especially number 15, because I would so do what you do and I actually do snort and snorted reading this..love it hugs
CJ says
I do that mom zone thing too, but my mistake is just saying yes to things while I’m in it, without listening to what I’m saying yes to. It’s sometimes a really big mistake. I feel a tiny bit sorry for that boy that smashed you into the concrete. How wrong can you get it? I do hope he learned something from it all.
ABew says
I absolutly love this post. The honesty, the ‘realness’! I love when you “say things out loud” (ok well, type things) and it is SO what everyone else thinks in their head, but doesn’t say it.
Tinkster says
You win. Funniest thing I’ve read today.
Helen says
Oh, Christmas in Rome. My. You will want to die of happiness literally every five minutes (you made the right choice not to go in summer)….wouldn’t have pegged you for a rap lover (!) and number 15…..cracked me up laughing…….!!!!!!!!!
Dena says
I love Sadie!! Cracks me up every time π She is so like my Dylan. Rap Rules!! Mom zone is pure survival mode. I mean really – how many times a day do we have to hear our name or listen to constant bickering!?!?
Brianna Marshall says
Ha! My survival response is ” I love you baby” so even if it makes sense for them I can play it off like I just needed to make sure they really knew! I am glad to know that I am not the only one also that just peeks in the scrapbook space even if I have no time or true desire to utilize it!
jung a says
Steph! you are so real and awesome! now if only i could get to love working out…ugh!!!
Kim says
thank you again for keeping it so real & giving me a giggle today, knowing I am not alone in so many of these things on your list!!
stephanie p. says
Don’t give up hope on that pull-up just yet!! After almost 3 years of CrossFit I finally did an unassisted pull-up a few weeks back!! Like you, I never expected to see that day… but it will come!!
Megan G says
Just head nodding along with all of these. I love a good 90s hip-hop shoutalong.
This though – FB really brings out people’s hidden racism, close-mindedness, and ugliness, doesn’t it? I’m so discouraged over some things I read there today. Also- do people even verify news sources before they post stories as fact? It would be funny if it wasn’t so sad.
Truer words never spoken.
Your posts like these are my favorite.
(And go to San Sabino in Rome. There’s a pagan temple under an early Christian temple under the ~current Renaissance church. It is awesome!)

Your post simply enrich my life. I could so be your best friend. thank you

Great Post Stephanie!
Thanks for the laughter ;o)
Greetings from Chi-Town~

Can’t tell from the pictures that you have this huge scar, so maybe it’s getting smaller or you’re getting better at photo shopping!
Zoning out is a great way to get things done, I tried it this weekend, and for the first time in years I managed to make a two layered skirt ( I have to confess, I made it for one of my girls, but still it felt like doing something just because I liked it, and what’ s even better it turned out great!).
Don’t worry about the arms, you’ve got five extra pairs of arms to help you, which are even getting stronger every day!!
Kimber-Leigh says
totally LOLed over #15. and ouch to #13. i’m guessing that backfired on him! π
i hardly ever get manicures either–too rough on my hands being a mom I think–but i LOVE a pedicure.
Amanda Sevall says
OMG we are like long lost sisters… I once bumped into a mannequin in a Macy’s and said excuse me. If it weren’t for my grandmother laughing so hard she was crying for witnessing it, I wouldn’t have known! π LOL I can so relate!! And I hate Scandal. I don’t understand the appeal. At all.
Ally says
Number 15 made me snort π
Kathleen D says
What a great blog post! And just this week while watching Scandal I had the exact same thought.

I actually laughed out loud at the mannequin bit.. totally something I would do! Also, Facebook, I hate it! Great post. π
Heather Innusa says
I just had to comment. This may seem all weird, because this post of yours was (I just checked) a year ago, right, but I haven’t blogged in at least as long, and haven’t scrapbooked either – in longer… but I wanted to go to my blog and check out some of the blogs I loved to visit. I clicked into yours and HAVEN’T BEEN ABLE TO LEAVE!!!!! I love reading about your adventures (your pictures are fantastic) and congrats on the newest member of your squad. I’ve mostly been getting book recommendations from you for the past hour (I guess, I’ve switched from scrapbooking/blogging to reading, exercising/getting healthy, and making cards). We have such similar tastes and I love that so many that you’ve loved, I have as well – and so many that I’m dying to read are in your TBR pile.
What made me really finally leave a comment on THIS post – was #1 your love of 90s Rap – YESSSSS!!!! and #2 the fact that you gave that mannequin the side eye – and then died laughing (hoping no one saw – but also hoping someone did, bahahahah). Dear Lord, you’re my spirit animal. This made me sad I’ve missed all of these posts, but happy for a binge session today after the Monday-ist of Mondays. You seriously crack me up – and you’re a good human. Thank you for being genuine and funny and just a real chick. I needed this today. I’m bookmarking your blog – I must not go this long again :). Hope you’re doing good and praying for bunches of blessings for your amazing family!
